SOURCE: I have a Frigidaire Combo

This can be due to the belt failing and hitting against to produce the noise or even if the main motor had failed.
You will need to check inside the washer to confirm the observations.
the belt can be changed easily once you have taken out the broken one , buy the same size according to the sample . It can be rolled into the main pulley and then after aligning with the motor pulley manually turn the pulley as the belt will be dragged into the slot.

SOURCE: What's your problem?CHANGE REAR BEARING

How do you know you need a rear bearing? You need to remove the front of the dryer, then loosen the belt from the tensioner near the motor pully (draw yourself a picture so you can put it back on the same way), take out the drum. The carrier is on the rear wall and the ball that holds the drum up is on the back of the drum

You need an upper felt and a rear drum bearing. If you buy the felt make sure you get the special adhesive to install it. The squeal maybe part of this or it could be the rear drum bearing. You can learn how to replace the rear drum bearing here in the article I wrote. http://gomestic.com/do-it-yourself/how-to-replace-a-frigidaire-dryer-rear-drum-bearing/

The drum rides on rollers-the bearings probably have failed or there is a flat spot on one or both-I would check them-Iwould replace all at the same time-cheers Denny

I have a frigidaire stackable washer/dryer model number FEx831cs0. The washer is working just find but the dryer for a few weeks has been making the worst screeching sounding in the world. I am not sure if...

A loose belt often makes a squeak that pulsates with the clothes hitting the paddles in the drum. It's probably the upper drum glide or rear bearing. If it's a constant screech coming from the front, it's probably the glide. If the noise seems to be in the back, suspect the bearing. You might check for a sock or something small that is stuck somewhere between the drum and the dryer.

Neither are very difficult to repair.

Bearings that support the drum on my front load washer are making

It is replaced from the rear of the drum, beneath the pulley.
You need a bearing puller tool and some common sense.
Take photos as you work, that aids reassembly.
