Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, and debris seems to be coming back out of the cleaner head, this is likely to be due to a blockage. The filters may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1148&product=DC25-ANIMAL

In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our Helpline a call free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

SOURCE: Spitting Out Debris

The beater bar (rotating brush) can kick back crumbs if the suction is not at 100%. This can happen if the vacuum has been used for a number of months without a thorough cleaning.
First thing is to not let the dirt canister get too full. The more full it is, the more dirt is sucked into the "cyclones" which are meant for only fine particles, not big pieces of dirt.

I'd then check your elbow hose connections (the ones that snap out easily). Then check the Hepa filter. When I lost suction with my Dyson DC07 the Hepa filter was a mess. But the inner cannister seemed to be really dirty also, so I dismantled it (this will void the warranty) and washed it out under the kitchen sink. Do not try this unless you know exactly what you're doing, but mine was an extreme case, as the Dyson was used by family members for about three years and they probably never cleaned the Hepa filter, etc.
Now I'll at least wash the Hepa filter (and housing) twice a year, as Dyson recommends.

SOURCE: the brush head won't move

      Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

      http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1502&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

Use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to depress the reset button, and make sure you push it in firmly until you hear an audible 'click'.

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the silver brush control switch located next to the red on/off switch.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.

      Kind regards,

What causes my Shark Vacuum to work only intermittently?

If the brush roller operation is intermittent, there may be hair jammed inside the end caps. The brush roller can be removed and the end caps also for inspection. Intermittent operation also can be caused by a stretched drive belt.
The periodic failure to pick up may be caused by something such as a ball of hair migrating through your vacuum cleaner and stopping from time to time to test your patience

Bissel easy vac roller won't work

remove brush roll and clean any string, hair, or whatever from it. especially around the ends. you can also unscrew the ends and check for debris there also. when you put ends back on use a little wd40 to lube up the bearings. if that doesn't work replace brush and won't hurt to change belt

      HV9010P ROLLER BRUSH DOESN'T MOVE

That is probably the belt. Open up the bottom screws and take a look. The cat or dog hair usually gets stuck in the ends of the rollers and stops the belt from effectively pushing the roller. You may find that the belt is still on the drive and the roller. If you do just clean out the roller.

Shark SV736R motorized brush won't rotate

The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner. or the Motorized brush is clogged up. You have mentioned that it is cleaned, but still give a thorough inspection. For the metal pins, firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply.

My dirt devil ultra vision won't pick up anything and the brush does not turn, also smells like rubber is burning. What should I do? I checked to see if it was clogged and the belt is not broken.

Sounds to me like the belt has gone or at least stretched so it is slipping on the spindle, take the brush out and check for hair or anything wound round where the belt grips...don't know this particular vac but usually belts are not too difficult to change. Get a new belt from your hardware shop
