Attempts to fill w/ water but won't...

Hello,

This washer just passed its one year mark and we now have a problem when trying to start a cycle. The machine will lock the door, spin once or twice, wait a few seconds and then attempts fill the machine with water. The sound it makes while trying is a medium to fast thumping sound, similar to a water pump that isn't passing water. This seems to go on indefinately, with no water filling the machine. I have checked the water at the hoses (is ok), and have checked the inlet valve screens (not clogged). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
Sean

You can check the inlet solenoid coil. maybe there is no power coming to the coils or if there is power, the coil is burnt.

Maytag_lse7804ace: washer won't fill with water. If I fill it by hand, the cycle works fine (until it gets to the rinse cycle, when it won't fill again).

Hello John,
The most probable reason the washer is not filling is because of a blown fuse that is part of the lid switch asm. By UNPLUGGING THE WASHER and removing the 2 INNER screws on the the control panel and the control panel can be rotated down to see the fuse in the lid switch asm. Here is where the fuse is on the switch asm. its circled in red 11_4_2011_1_39_54_am.jpg

Won't stop filling up. Water continues to flow without stopping for cycles

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug it,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement

Good luck, i hope this helps.

Hi...my washer goes through cycles and then stops at "light" . It won't go through rinse and spin. Help

Make sure your cold water tape is turned on and the screen in the water valve is not plugged up, it may be trying to fill with cold water and cant get any, try filling the washer with cold water on a "wash" cycle to confirm it it fills with "cold" then just the rince cycle ion the timer may be faulty and would need to be replaced

Won't fill, no cycling noises

Hello, try to see if there's a good water volume coming through the hoses attached to the washing machine. If there is, check to see if the screens inside the water-inlet valve are clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to). If they're clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you should completely replace the valve.

Thanks

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Frigidaire FTF530F won't advance

Possibly the timer. next time it wont stop filling turn off the washer. if it still fills you have a water valve issue. Hope for the valve. Timers are big bucks.

Washer filled but does not run at all

When the unit completes its filling cycle, a relay will be activated to start the wash cycle. A 10 year old unit probably has dirty/corroded or otherwise malfunctioning relay contacts. This should be repaired by a qualified repairman as high voltages pass through these relays.
