SOURCE: Is it possible to overclock the processor? if so

The only way to overclock a processor is to raise its settings in the BIOS. You can't do that in this laptop because its BIOS doesn't allow it.

EMachine EL1333G windows 7 64 bit AMD Athlon 2650E Processor ( BIOS OVERCLOCK HELP)

Troy,

When Processors (CPU) are made, they are made on a Pass/Fail scale. Processor is either Good, or not good.

This means you may get a Processor that is on the Top of the scale, or Bottom of the scale. The AMD factory doesn't discriminate.

In fact they don't care. (This goes for all Processor manufacturers, not just AMD)
All they care about is does the Processor work, or not?

Therefore, you may have a Processor that is on the Bottom of the scale, but passed as Good.

Point? Stating a setting that might be good for joeblow's AMD Athlon 2650e, may not work for yours.

Might work for yours, and not joeblow's.

This is why you need to go into BIOS Setup, and using a SMALL increment, overclock the Processor.
Run the computer for 24 hours, and see if everything is chiily.
(Computer still works OK)
This is a "Burn-In test"

Works OK for 24 hours? Then go back into BIOS Setup, and go up one more small increment. Do the Burn-In test.

Keep going until the computer has glitches, or doesn't work.
Then go back into BIOS Setup, and come down one small increment, or go back to where the computer WAS working OK.

It's an individual thing. Each Processor (CPU) is different from the others.

Hello, I would like to overclock my AMD mt30 CPU 1600Mhz25wattTDP 64clockspeed/power ratio to that of a SempronML37 2000Mhz35WattTDP and 57.1 clock speed/power ratio? Do I just change the voltages in...

Due to the way you stated the above John, you seem like a guy that will understand the following;

Yeah know funny thing about overclocking;

1) You may have a good Processor that came off the assembly line that day, or it may be one that just squeezed past Quality Control. Push it too much, and it will fry. Trying to make it hit 2.0GHz all day long, every day, may just push it over the limit. Sure you may have read about, or even heard of someone who did it. How long? How long did the processor last at this overclocked rate?

2) AMD's run H-O-T. Not a good idea to push a Processor with overclocking (Which makes it run MUCH hotter) in a cramped laptop environment, with a low cooling capacity anyway.

3) Ram Memory typically operates at half of the FSB Frequency Rate ('Speed'), that the Processor does. (Front Side Bus)

To overclock you can;
A) Change the Voltage
B) Change the FSB frequency rate ('speed')
C) Change the Multiplier

If you change the Front Side Bus frequency rate too far, the ram memory will not work anymore.
Won't match.

AMD Turion 64 MT-30,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Turion_microprocessors#.22Lancaster.22_.2890_nm.29

The Sempron you name is a Turion also.
Turion ML-37,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Turion_microprocessors#.22Lancaster.22_.2890_nm.29

4) You have to have a BIOS Setup Utility that will allow you to change CPU parameters.

See this article?

http://www.ehow.com/how_7335931_overclock-turion-64-compaq-nx6125.html

No mention that overclocking a Processor shortens it's 'Life Span'
No mention that if overclocked too far the Ram Memory may not work.

No mention that an AMD processor runs HOT, and if you overclock you'd better have a lot more than the factory cooling. Plus not a good thing for a laptop anyway because of a laptop's poor cooling design. (Cramped small space, small fan, inadequate cooling thermal module)

No mention that the BIOS Setup Utility in your laptop may not have a CPU Soft option, or options inside that allow you to change the Processor's parameters.

No mention that you should go slow. Change parameters in one SMALL increment, wait 24 hours, and check the system. Looks okay? Change parameters another small increment. Check during a 24 hour period. Keep going until the computer starts messing up, then go BACK to the last parameter that checked out okay

Have I dissuaded you yet?
No?
Just don't want to see someone fry their Processor, or computer.

Okay.

The Turion MT-30 has a clock multiplier of 8 times. (8x)
The Turion ML-37 has a clock multiplier of 10x.

The Turion MT-30 uses 1.35 Volts (DC)
The Turion ML-37 uses 1.35 Volts (DC)

The Turion MT-30's Front Side Bus frequency rate is 800MegaHertz
The Turion ML-37's FSB 'speed' is 800MHz.

What options in your BIOS Setup do you have for changing CPU (Processor) parameters?
State back in a Comment. (Believe top right of your page)

No options?
Then try CrystalCPUID, or ClockGen,

2) http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=189

Is it possible to over clock amd phenom 8600b 2.30ghz triple core processor

Yes, every processor can be overclocked, but be very careful when overclocking processors. The increased heat can damage a processor and shorten it's life significantly. Ensure your processor does not get too hot during the oveclocking procedure. All overclocking should be done in small increments. The X3 8600 can be oveclocked to close to 2.7GHz safely with air cooling.
The best overclock is always through the motherboard. Depending on your BIOS you can raise the Front Side Bus (in small increments) in order to bump up the total frequency. If you have an unclocked processor, you can try to raise the multiplier. After every increase, you should stress test your computer using PRIME 95. If your computer locks up, drop down the clock speed and leave it there. Your computer should always be stable. You may have to raise the voltage of your processor to get to where you want. If you give the model of your motherboard, I can give you more detailed instructions.
Make sure you have CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html). - this will show you all the details of your processor. If you would like some more detail, check out this link:http://www.wikihow.com/Overclock-a-PC and feel free to message me. If you didn't understand some of the things in this post, I'd recommend not overclocking your PC - it can be dangerous and ruin your computer if you don't know what you are doing. Alex

Yor processor probably overheats!
Have you overclocked before, of left it on for weeks at a time. Or check if the fan is not working!
Take the fan off, and pull the processor out and have a looksee.

if its damaged you will need to look for a replacement processor.
Socker 939, they're rare but if you can get a AMD FX60 it will run nice. but your best bet is wait until Jan sales and get a new motherboard and processor.

Foxconn are miserable at overclocking and X2 - 6000 is a proc already overclocked from factory - you can't push it any further without a serious water cooler.
Reset the BIOS and hope it will start again, otherwise you will need at least a new proc.
