SOURCE: Monitor goes blank automatically after about 40 minutes...

Hi Randygui, Sounds like the back light inverter board is bad. It's a very common problem. LCD's use four small cold compact fluorescent bulbs to back light the display. (thats what gives the LCD it's brightness allowing you to see it) The inverter board runs these lights and when they go bad they will typically show symptoms like you have or the monitor power light comes on and you have either no display or a very dim display. If you ever have one that has no display but the power light is on you can check by shining a flashlight directly into the LCD from the front (right into the screen) if you can see an image then it's either the inverter board (most likely) or the CCFL bulbs have gone bad. The inverter board and CCFL's are replaceable. Good Luck, El Duderino

SOURCE: artifacts on flatscreen monitor

The two cheapest things to do are, firstly, try your monitor on another persons pc, to see if any difference, and secondly try a different mouse as they can interfere with with graphics dpi.

SOURCE: Benq FP91G+ monitor

The hourglass / egg-timer you're seeing has NOTHING to do with your new monitor. It is an indication that some program (possibly something NASTY) is running and using the CPU. While the CPU is tied up by the (possibly unknown) program, Windows displays the hourglass so you will know that the system is busy... First, update your antivirus program, then use it to scan your ENTIRE hard drive; this could take HOURS, so you might want to let the AV program work all night. If you don't have an AV program, you can do an online scan of your system in order to find the culprit; open Internet Explorer, then open this link: http://housecall.trendmicro.com Run the FREE online scan; again, this could take HOURS to finish, so you might want to let it run all night to see if the problem can be resolved... There are OTHER types of nasty software ("malware") which could have the same effect on your system, so if you can't find the source of the problem, open these links for more information: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44525 I realize that this probably isn't what you expected, but at least now you know what is most likely to be causing this problem, and the links I've posted can help you correct this problem... Lastly, this COULD be caused by a program you (or someone else with access to your system) has intentionally installed, but you didn't mention adding any software recently, and I think it is best to atacck this problem head-on. Best of luck; let us know what you learn...

SOURCE: Monitor turns black after 3 seconds

teo6925, "Switch-mode-power-supply" is in partial shutdown mode. Can you see any electrolytic filter capacitors that have a slight "swelling" to their tops? They should be flat!! You may also need to inspect all the soldered component connections very closely for cold, thermally intermittant, "frosty" looking solder joint connections. May need large magnifying glass or 10x to 20x inspection microscope to locate these thermal/vibration "fractures" and then resolder them! If you have a capacitor problem, then you will need to carefully remove and replace with new ones. If you are novice at soldering I suggest that you document your work with digital camera or video tape so you can get everything back together with no "leftover" pieces! Teo, all you need to do to find out how BAD the problem of poorly manufactured capacitors is would be to search WEB for BAD CAPACITORS!!! Look for pic's of ELITE capacitors or CAPXON brand. You will be stunned beyond belief!!! Reading is free!! READ, READ, READ. Let us know what you find and do additional comment here on FIXYA. 12fixlouie

Sir i have micromax q5 mobile when i install the pc suit then installdrv64.exe error found i. now the time i have use windows xp sp2..... plz give me how to use micromax q5 pc suite

The installdrv64.exe error indicates that the computer is installed with 32 bit Windows XP SP2 Operating System. Please unplug the Cellphone and re-install the PC Suite but do not install "installdrv64.exe" file as it is for 64 bit Windows XP Operating System. Now restart the computer and try connecting the Cellphone it should work now.

Drive not instlled

When you bought you monitor there should be a drver CD for the monitor. If you have the CD, pu it in the CD_rom and then if you;re using Windows XP it will automatically open for drive installation. The PC will automatically detect a new hardware and will ask for the driver. The installation wizard will open and you just follow the instruction. Remember the drive is in the CD-rom. Choose CD-rom for drive location.

Can I install windows xp home edition to another computer

No.
OEM CDs are locked to the computer.
If you do install XP, it will ask for activation and you cannot activate it because an OEM licence is only for the computer it was sold with.

How to install XP in toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.
