You might have some processes that are in auto start mode that come pre installed on the machine like DellMedia Direct or something along those lines. Use Windowns SysInternals utility DebugView. Using this utility you can view any debug output generated by any application (including Windows itself) running on your system. Very useful. Use the SysInternals tool called AutoRuns to see what is auto starting. When you see what the application is that is slowing you down simply uncheck it and reboot.

SOURCE: my computer keeps scrolling downward

I had a C600 do the same thing. It kept happening but I got some control over it by blowing around the edges of the touchpad with canned air and then cleaning the touchpad agressively with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft lint free cloth. If that makes a noticeable difference then we are on the right track. If the problem becomes unmanageable touchpad replacement may be in order. Let me know if this helps. If you need further solutions I will research further and post as data becomes available.

SOURCE: Scroll Function Doesn't Work

Just a followup to my June 27th post: I always use a mouse. The last two times the scrolling problem occurred, I tried using the touchpad to move the cursor to the scroll bar, then clicking the touchpad button as if selecting that position--and the scrolling problem disappeared for that session. I didn't have to reboot.

SOURCE: Will not scroll up or down using the pad on my laptop

Check for any dirt on the keypad. Check also if there are other keys stuck on your computer.
Try restarting your computer.

SOURCE: Every page scrolls to the bottom

try reinstalling the touchpad drivers, go to your laptops home page, you can find the drivers there and reload them, works 99% of the time. other possibility would be a bad touhpad needing replacement.

SOURCE: my scroll feature on the touch pad on my alienware

I've seen this before and I think I know what might have happened.

Of course, I'm guessing, so bear with me.

during an update from Windows website, the touchpad drivers were updated. This was done, in all likelihood, without your knowledge.

Find the touchpad in the Device manager (I'm guessing you know your way around a computer) and look at the properties.

Then, roll back the driver and restart.

good luck.

Several times each day my mouse on my laptop (Dell Lattitude E5510) becomes unresponsive. I can then use the touch pad to restore my control or the mouse works if I switch USB ports. It doesn't se

Some mouses stop responding if you do not use it for a few minutes. This is usually a battery saving feature. Usually all you got to do is use the scroll button to reactivate the mouse by scrolling up or down. This will bring the mouse back to life. When you change the ports you are actually doing the same thing (reactivating). Also check whether battery needs changing.

Page up button not working

Unfortunately it sounds like you're keyboard is malfunctioning and the only permanent fix is to replace the keyboard. In the mean time, since you are unable to do so, I would suggest using the touch pad to manipulate the scroll bar for the faster scrolling. For more control you could use a USB mouse with the laptop which would give you a scroll wheel. (I personally use a Wireless Mouse with my laptop because I find touch pads don't react they way I would like my mouse to use)

I have minimized some pages by era how how did I do it? How do I get it back to readable text size?

Hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard and on your mouse button 3 (the scroll), try to scroll upward or downward, if you dont use an external mouse, on the touchpad of your laptop you'll see there is a up and down arrow, all you need to do is hold down the CTRL and scroll up or downward through the laptop's touch pad.

Scroll Function Doesn't Work

Scrolling is integrated into the operating system. Try a restore point to a time you recall it working properly. If this doesn't work try a repair from your recovery disc or an operating system repair with your op system disc.
