Question about NEC Versa FX Notebook

Laptop LCD screen failure

I was sitting awkwardly in a chair with my laptop and I think I pressed on opposite corners, perhaps separating something internally. My screen went haywire, splitting into lines that rand up and down, very wavy. Naturally I shut it off. The screen has never turned back on. I attempted hooking up an external screen to see if it was the LCD itself, but that didn't work, so I assume it is the video portion of the motherboard itself. Sound about right? Using my rudimentary knowledge, I dismantled the case, but was unable to find any obvious internal damage, like something being unplugged or snapped. The computer will boot up, there is simply no display.

If it is the motherboard, should I attempt to change it out on my own, or take that in to a professional? My lcd was working well when one day it failed to show anything, black lcd. I repeatedly turned it off and on with the power switch, it worked, the light came. The next day i turned it on and again nothing, a black lcd! The processor works and there is a sound but no visuals. Tried yesterday's manuver, alas! didn't work.

Their is a simple option works many a times for this problem.
remove all the wires connected to mother board 1 by 1 and wait for a minute or two.then replug it firmly and properly on their respective positions.also remove the battery.and reinsert it.
note: do all this in power OFF position.

if still does not works then its not hard to replace the mother board its very easy to replace.as mother board is just fitted with some screws and plastic locks.you can do it your self if you want.
but if the professional does it you will get the garranty for near about six months if the same problem occurs again.

and the main thing as per my knowledge i dont think your board is faulty but there is some minute fault in the board.
why dont you try to ghet it repaired at some chip level reparing center.it will be perfectly all right as something has got loosed on the mother board or any of the tracks are got short.this is repairable.and cost you very less.

thanks.

Your best bet is to have a professional take care of this. With laptops there is a lot less room for error. Also you may want a professional who can diagnose exactly what the problem is. If you need help locating a service center let me know if you give me your zip code I can locate some for you. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,

Take it to a pro..i used to do these. takes about 1 hour, right parts, and a good sense of humor. The cable that feeds the signal to the lcd is well known for being sensitive, and that sort of flexing of the board or the lcd panel itself, is known to make this sort of thing happen.

How to fix lap top LCD-shuts down after start-up is complete? only external monitor can show what is on page

If the LCD works during the start-up process and then blanks as soon as the OS launches, chances are that the LCD has been turned off via some sort of hotkey function. Many laptops have a hotkey to do this. Is saves power when the laptop is used to run an external display or projector. Check the FUNCTION keys for icons in BLUE. One of them may be a turn-on/turn-off for the LCD. To test it, press and hold the FN button (normally lower LH corner near the WINDOWS key), and then press the blue hotkey and see what happens.

Elonex "10.2 laptop frame broken (not the screen)

Try ebay. Just but in the search box "Elonex LCD Bezel". The are easy to replace. Most screws on the Bezel are hidden by a rubber bumper or something that you can use a safety pin or real small flat head screw driver to pry off.

Can laptop screen spider crack without being dropped?

Hello,

One of a few things may have happened. When the laptop was closed last, there may have been something on the keyboard (pen, toothpick etc) that could have caused the crack - The laptop may have received an impact that she was not aware of - the crack may have been pre-existing (cracked slightly a while ago) and finally gave way. Here's something else I have encountered......When she opens and closes the laptop, does she usually lift the lcd from one corner only, both corners at the same time, or from the centre? If you open a laptop by one corner of the lcd only, you are flexing the lcd every time, and this can weaken it and eventually cause a crack. Also, if you try to open the laptop from one corner, and the lid is still latched, this flexes the lcd as well. Anyhow, Unless your warranty will cover it, go to www.laptopscreens.com
and order a new lcd panel. I have ordered from this site a few times now, and their prices are by far the best I have ever seen ($80 average). Order the screen, and if you're not comfortable installing it yourself, take it to a good service shop and have it done.

Hope this helps!

When i press the power on button it starts but nothing appear on the screen only white light

You have whats referred to as a Bride Screen. This can be bad. You may need to replace the screen, cable, or even the mainboard. Heres a quick way to check if its a mainboard. Power down the computer. With the LCD screen open put the laptop on your leg corner to corner and on the opposite corners apply some lite pressure. Now try to start the computer. If it starts right then you know you have a loose cable or need to replace or repair the mainboard. If it didnt fix it, try the same thing only on the opposite corners. If you get the above mentioned results check what I told you. If you still just get the Bride Screen then your still looking at the same issues. Try hooking up the laptop to another External screen from a desktop and start up your computer. Do you see anything on the screen. If so you may need a new LCD screen or video cable. These are basics but should get you started in the right direction.

It was working well this afternoon. At night it was off, so I tried charging it but it won't charge. The charger is working well (I tried it on another laptop) and the battery of the laptop is intact. ...

Not a lot of infromation to go on but here is something to try.

  • Unplug the laptop
  • pull the battery out
  • push and hold the power button for 15 to 30 seconds
  • put the battery back in
  • plug the computer
Now see if the light is on saying the computer is charging. If so great!

Now I dont know if your computer is coming on at all or not but if it is not I have a test for you.
Take the laptop with the lcd open and put the base on your leg corner to corner. Lightly press the opposit corners and see if the charge lite comes on. If it doesnt then turn the computer to the opposite corners and do the same. If you find that this brings your computer back you may have bad solder joints on your main circuit board. This is a common thing on some series of laptops in different brands. The dv2000, 6000 and 9000 series HPs and the F series of Compaqs commonly had this solder problem. If you find that your laptop has this problem there are companies that for a reasonable price will fix your mainboard problems and ship your laptop back good as new (or better).

Hope this helps... Dale

Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop monitor is dark.

It is a posible LCD problem, Might gone defective.

First trouble shooting is to turn off your laptop completele and the remove the battery and the charger and any accesories connected on yur lap top. Then press the power button for 1 minute. It will reset the settings of your laptop to default if you accidentally press the command for the hotkey to turn off the built in monitor and enabled the extended monitor.

If the issue persist it means it is an issue with the LCD and needs to be replaced.

The lights are on screen is black

When you first turn on your computer, do you see anything on the screen? Perhaps, something in the corner of the screen telling you to press F1,F12 or something like that. If so, go in to start-up and see if it will give the option to "start with last known good configuration", if so press the # and enter, See if the computer will boot then, if not do the process over and press "start in safe mode" and if this works you probably have a virus. Hp Pavilion dv2000 LCD Problems

Does sound like an LCD problem, but doesn't sound like an inverter.
You might want to tear it down and check the connectors on both ends of the LCD cable, to make sure that they are fully connected.
