Right click in the taskbar, then click properties, then click notification area and tick the volume box. it should go back to the tray. Then right click the volume icon and goto recording devices, choose the device you wish to use and then click properties. Ensure that it is enabled. Then goto your yahoo settings and select the cam/audio settings and choose the device you wish to run in yahoo. Make sure you check the box 'ALLOW OTHER PROGRAMMES TO USE THIS DEVICE'

Skype microphone does not work

You need to check your audio (sometimes called Sound on some systems) settings (under control panel on Windows or Settings on Mac).

Under input (or sometimes called sound recording), make sure the headset you are using is selected.

You might also try using the headset with another program to see if it will record your voice. (Audacity is free You can download it and try recording on it.)

If it still doesn't work, here is a page on Skype that has a Microsoft tool you can try -

Yahoo voice call not working

Make sure ur mic settings are configured properly.

Open Yahoo Messenger Window, goto Actions > Call Setup as seen below:
Now follow the step by step instructions, and select the input and output source from the drop down menu on the setup screen until the microphone and speakers are working properly with this wizard.

Yahoo Audio Prefernces
Go to yahoo messenger main window , Messenger > Preferences > Calling & Audio
In this setup, select the microphone input from the dropdown, and similarly the speaker settings.
After selecting the proper input and output, the voice char worked just fine with me. Hope it helps you solve your problem.

Getting the message "no input detected from your microphone" when trying to use yahoo voice

OK ..there are more than one scenarios here ..
First thing to check is the mike itself..tobe plugged well into the pink in ..and if it is a internal one I guess its ok ..
after that click on the icon shaped like a speaker in the tray system on the tsak bar (right click ) and open the volume control..if the microphone is not in the list options in the left ..and properties...It will be displayed a list of devices..and you should choose from the list the mic..and check the square ...This will place it visible and activate it ...Check again the volume to be up ..for the mic..and not to be muted..
In this moment the mic is active and ok ...all that should be done its to see if it is picked up by the a conversation window with someone ..than in the action button ..choose call set-up will show a window that has to be clicked next to make the call setup...first when you get to the mic have to make noise and do not move on until the level is moving and its says mic setup successful ...if it do not appears to detect the mic...see the device list in the window and choose the device you use...if themic is incorporated into the camera and it is a usb camera ..choose that from the device list ..after that make noise to be detected..and move on if it works .when you finish the setup with success it will work and you already can make calls

If teh other has issues in hearing you can always go to the volume control center (like the first time ) ..and choose advanced under the options ..and after that in advanced under the mic line to boost it up..and will double the fidelity ..
Have a nice day and please rate me ..1

You may hear drop outs or poor sound quality in this call. Your Internet connection currently has reliability problems, perhaps due to a weak WiFi signal

Head set probs

I understand you know what you are doing, but sometimes step by step tips might help you with something you could have overlooked, so here we go;

- You have selected the proper driver for the recordings (mike input) in : Volume Settings ~ Options ~ Properties ~ selcet the right mixer

- There is no other audio program installed that overruled the standard Windows setting to use another input driver or I/Face ?

- I am not 100% sure if the 5100 has a front entry Mike input, but if so, have you checked that input, instead of the standard backside input ?

- I know that some Dells have a small applet running that automatically detects if a device is connected to the mike input or speaker output. Play a bit with these connectors in/out, speaker/mike. Maybe the applet pops up and needs to be reconfigured. I'm sorry I cannot tell you which applet it is and how to start it from Windows, maybe someone else can help with that.

- Try the straight forward program Windows recorder in Start ~ Programs ~ Accessories ~ Entertainment ~ Sound Recorder ~ Edit ~ Audio Properties and selecxt the proper Audio Interface.

Good Luck !
