Do you get sound through the headphones? If so, the jack interupt contact may be dirty or corroded. Some contact cleaner should help clean it up, then it is merely a matter of plugging and unplugging several times to make the contact for the speakers.

Other possibilities, the source is not set right, the volume is off, or muted, the "voice" ahs not been selected.- inother words a knob set wrong, or button pushed or not pushed. I am betting you checked those first thing, but should someone else reading this in the future read it, it might be something they have overlooked..

Hi, I have a Mackie vlz3 mixer. Last night I turned everything on and it was all distorted. I did some trouble shooting. It is definitely the board. Can you help. Ted

sounds like it could be dust or moisture ...Try cleaning the board and knobs and faders. this may help it may make it worse. Also while at it...check all connections...especially from board to amps. or to outboard gear. Could be a bad chord

How to trouble shoot Hofner Icon Series Bass

Hi!
If replacing the jack did't clear it up, and the cable and amp checkout OK, my best guess would be either a solder connection on the pots and switches, or a dirty pot or switch. I'd reflow all solder points and use DeOxit 5 on the pots and switches. Use it sparingly trying to flow it inside the components. Then operate the pots/switches a number of times quickly. Do your best to keep it off the finish. Do not spray it into the pickups.
Good Luck!

Contact Morelock's Organ Service, Rienzi, MS, United States Phone 601-462-7611. Provide them with the complete model number and expect to pay for a service manual if they have one. Start at the end of the power cord and work towards the amplifier section. You will want to establish that the power supply is working correctly. The light is only an indication that the power cord is getting power to the power switch. If the power supply is providing the correct voltages to the other circuit sections of the organ then you will have to trouble shoot each one separately. Check to make sure the speaker is functional. If it has a headphone jack test it also as it may cut the sound to the speaker out if headphones are plugged in. If it is faulty, sound may not get to the headphones or the speaker. You will also need tools. At least a volt/ohm meter.Remember not to work on the circuits with the power on unless you absolutely know how to do this safely. There are lethal voltages in the power supply.

Amp doesn't do anything.

If you hear a pop when you turn it on and the squeak when turning off most of your amp is probably working.Depending on whether it is a tube or solid state amp there are several things to consider some being as simple as a deadLED or bulb in the pilot light and a defective input jack to as complicated as a dead power supply to the preamp circuitry. If you are not familiar with safety procedures and electronic trouble shooting and have no test equipment and the schematic you might be better off having it serviced. Here is a link to a troubleshooting guide:http://www.geofex.com/ampdbug/ampdebug.htm A lot of the info can be applied to solid state amps. Hope this helps.

Nothing is plugged in and the volume is down but when the amp is turned on it sounds like a airhorn going off

This could be caused by a few things but the first and easiest thing to do is have your tubes checked. Here is a link to a trouble shooting page that will go into more detail than I have space to do here:http://www.geofex.com/ampdbug/ampdebug.htm Please let me know if this helps.

That doesn't sound good. It sounds as if the processor is locking up and that might only be fixed by replacing the main board. Sometimes this happens if a unit gets fried by static electricity.

But before giving up, I would open up the unit and check for loose cables and connectors internally. If there are chips (IC's) that are socketed on circuit boards, push them down firmly. Things may start working again.
