There is no kit. There is a way to do it. The only catch is that it will probably wind up costing you about $50 to do so. You would have to replace the reciprocating shaft with item 29 #619938-00($22)along with these additional parts: Steel ball 387425-00 ($.82), Slider 603329-10 ($2.14), Spring 616398-00 ($77), Shoe 389556-00 ($11.61), Lever Assy 620351-00 ($3.35), and Screw 99279-08 ($.82). It's gonna cost you more than half the cost of a new one to do this. It would be advisable if your saw is in anything but excellent condition to purchase a new one with this feature.

SOURCE: clamping a blade in the saw
it's either a cylinder behind fence, twist it to open, let go so it close's. or there is a lever on the side that you lift up to insert blade let down to hold in place

SOURCE: need to remove and then
Hello Hollister, on this peticular sawzall they are using a roll pin to hold the blade holder on. If you remove the blade clamp screw, you can move the blade holder back and forth on it. You will need to get a very small punch and drive it all the way out. Look at the picture below. You will need to remove (38) and (52). It will make it much easier.
I hope this helps. If you run into trouble, I'll walk you through it, just post back.

It sounds like the set-screw may have caused a burr on the blade, and that's preventing you from removing it. You might use a tool like vice-grips, and apply more force. I don't think you can hurt anything by doing that if the blade is in the fully-extended position.

There is a small screw on the right side by the shoe assembly that should allow you to remove it so you can get to the piece broken off. There is also a C-clip that you might have to remove also.
I hope this helps. If it does, I would appreciate a vote or comment. Thanks,
