SOURCE: Storage Heater

You will need a volt/ohm meter. remove the element or at least the wires on each end. set the meter to ohms, touch each lead from the meter to the opposing ends of the element. The meter should have some type of resistance. If it shows open or the needle doesn't move (on the older non digital type) then the element is bad.

SOURCE: operating instructions for creda storage heaters

Suspect a fuse blown. These are normally easily accessible at the top of the heater, once you have ISOLATED the supply and removed the cover, very carefully. (MAY be asbestos inside, if they are old heaters...)

I have 2 tsr12aw creda storage heaters, one gets hotter and stays warmer for longer, the imput switch clicks much quicker on the cooler one,is there an internal adjustment to increase the time it asks

you will find that it is like that on these models, the temp sensor is just a bit of metal and it heats up and then opens the circuit then when it cools down close the circuit and starts to heat up again. over time it will turn off quicker as the bit of metal or copper depending what was fitted will cut of quicker.

Creda storage heater manual

I'm not a heating expert, but according to the information I could find, Economy 7 utilizes cheap electricty at night, during off-peak hours (7 hours) between midnight and 7AM. Economy 7 costs about 4p per unit compared to peak electricity, which is about 10 to 15p per unit. If you do not have Economy 7, you can request it FREE of charge from your electricity provider. You will either have one meter with two readings or two separate meters. A two tariff electric meter will record the electricity used during off peak times, so it can be billed, separately, at a lower rate. If you have two meters, one meter controls on peak daytime electricity and the other controls your night time economy 7 electricity.

I would need to know what model Creda heater you have installed in order to determine how energy efficient it may be. I also will need the model so I can determine operating instructions. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps.

Hello I have a Unidare night store heater that

ive just bought a house with unidare night stoarge heaters and one of mine hasnt worked - i found something on a site that said this:

"My Unidare storage heaters have a fused link (may be the wrong term ) that melt ever few years. Are you able to unscrew the top of the unit and look ( all turned off etc ) -A Fused link looks like an inch long piece of 5 mm solder - if yours has melted it will probably be in silver balls/blobs - replacing is easy if you have got to them."

so this could be why they arent working...

at night set the input to high (6) and output to about 3...in the morning set the output to 2/3 so a bit of heat will be released when at work, and then when you come in set the output to 6 (max)....should work! ive only just learnt what to do but ive they arent great!

I have a creda storage heater 79153, i turned it on on sunday night monday morning it was still cold , i changed the fuse at the wall still nothing, the only part that works is the convector heater at the...

Check the fuse board it should be marked up (but often is not especially if POLISH electricians concerned) it should be a 32 amp fuse.
The heater has a thermal fuse installed internally £12 replacement, these tend to be the only things that go wrong with storage heaters! get a qualified electrician who you trust to have a look otherwise who-ever looks at it will say its F****d and will take you to the cleaners
