There is a panel on the bottom of the laptop that will have access to the ram.i believe it is the largest panel you will need a Philips head screw driver.

What memory do I need?

Your machine has 4 DIMM slots. They use PC3200 (DDR400) DIMMS (184-pin). The machine comes pre-installed with 2, 256MB DIMMS providing 512MB of RAM. The largest DIMMs available in the DDR PC3200 are 1GB. If you keep what you have, you can add an additional 2GB of RAM, for a total of 2.5GB. If you are running WINXP 32-bit, this should be more than acceptable. You can replace all four DIMMS and get 4GB of RAM, but a 32-bit OS can only access a little of 3GB of RAM. If you want to come close to maxing out under a 32-bit OS, remove one of the installed DIMMS and add 3 1GB DIMMS. These are old memory and may be hard to find and actually cost more than newer memory.

How do I add memory to my eMachine T2245. I know that it takes DDR PC2100, but can I use 1GB, or do I need to add memory in pairs?

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot, so a max of 2GB. Your computer does not support dual channel memory or ECC memory. You also do not have to install it in pairs. This would be ideal for you.

It has lifetime warranty. Pick up 2 of those and max out your memory. You will notice a HUGE increase in performance. Memory upgrades offer the biggest bang for your buck.

The memory may not be compatible depending on the speed. Try taking out all the memory and just installing the 1Gig stick.. does it work?

If it does then the 1Gig stick is fine, but your PC probably doesn't like you mixing different types and speeds of memory.

If it doesn't work, the 1gig memory module might not be the correct speed your PC wants.

Having a problen installing 1gb ram. unit is 1gb ddr2 dimm 533mhz. computer turns on, shows that it has updated the memory, but does not boot

Hi,

if the computer states that the memory has been recognised. but fails to boot. it may not be compatable memory for your CPU/Processor. Or system bus. check your previous memory stick, to ensure it,s the same running speed 533mhz. Failing this if your computer does not support this.
check the manufacturers website, to see further details:- Maximum supported memory/Speed et,c.
Systems bios date, and whether an update is available. your only other alternative is to install 2 x 512mb sticks of Ram.

MEMORY SAYS FULL

The Garmin Nuvi 200w comes with a 1GB solid state drive. The problem lies with the fact that the North American map preloaded with the 200 series is already around 910MB plus the help files and additional languages most of us don't use like Russian, Korean, Japanese etc etc that push it past 980MB or so. Now do the math and you'll find that the 37MB update doesn't fit in there, so you can choose not to update.

You can plug the Nuvi to your PC and explore the Garmin folder and get rid of the Help folder, which will not hinder the operation of the unit but will disable the HELP button when you power up the unit, and you can also remove all the languages you don't use from the Speech and Text folders.

Also when you add a 1GB SD card to the Nuvi, it doesn't add the extra storage to the actual unit. It just allows you to add more maps or pictures to it, but you cannot update the main file in the Solid State Drive by just adding more memory. The main files' name is GMAPPROM.IMG by the way and it's the biggest one at around 900 some MB's. You can just follow my instructions above and you'll be fine, if by any chance you bought another map you could load it up on the 1GB SD card. Except for ALL of Europe because that's 1.4GB if you load up all of it, so I would choose only the countries I know I'd visit.
