Mitsubishi CK3527R shuts off on its own

I have a Mitsubishi CK3527R Counsel TV purchased in 1998. I am having a problem with the TV Shutting off, on its own, intermittently. When this happens, sometimes the little Green Program Timer light goes on, located at the bottom of the set, for a few seconds, then it shuts down . I have unplugged it for a day or two, re plugged it back in and it would work OK for a few days, But the it would shut down at any time, periodically, again. Any suggestions??

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-55807 Won't Turn On

The TV is on protect mode. The clicking sound is the protection switchthat keep turning the TV off to prevent further damage, this happenswhen a fault had been detected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Alsoensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sendingbad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver boxor dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashingled on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1Theinternal circuits are jammed because of electrostaticcharges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage readby the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started theprotection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrongvoltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in, startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faultsthat can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, aconvergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check alsothe video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, youcan get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

SOURCE: i power on tv and it shuts down after few seconds

There is a high voltage leak here, the reason it closes down is the protection mechanism isw trying to prevent more damage. better to turn it off and have it repaired before it catches fire or blows all the boards and becomes totally useless or beyond repair.

Sorry this isnt what you wanted hear but there is a safeyty factor involved here.

T.v.will click on for a second then shut off never can get picture

It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done

TV shut off will not stay on.

Sounds as though you have a video problem. It may be the convergence chips. The TV is shutting down do to a default in the circuit ( the set knows there is an error of somekind so it shuts down to protect itself). This is a problem that needs a pro trouble shooter since it could be in about any board. Sorry I couldn't help more

This shutting on and off~On Durabrand TV`S. If your Tv Turns Off after about 1-11/2 minutes after turning it on then you need to replace your batteries in your remote control with BRAND NEW BATTERIES or it will keep doing it. Your TV is probably shutting down due to excessive current draw. Replace the filter capacitor in the power supply and cross your fingers. This will be a large, tall, and round shaped object near the location where your power cord goes into the TV. It has two pins and one is positive and other is negative. Do not get them crosses when installing new part. keever
