Does it make any noise at all? If not, check the motor for a protective device. A thermal reset would be a red button on the end of the motor. It may be as simple as that.

If it hums loudly, and turns over by hand- no power applied- with difficulty the motor bearings or compressor bearings may be needing attention.

If it hums loudly and barely turns, but turns by hand freely, the motor has a start/run capacitor- it likely failed. Replacing the capacitor is a simple task- just make sure to replace it with one of similar ratings.

My portable dental compressir is not starting up only the fan is working

Try this, disconnect from power source and let it cool down to room temperature. If the unit over heats it will go into a thermal cutoff.

The compressor has a bi-metal temperature sensor attached to the body. In most cases it is along side of the compressor terminals.

While you are in that area, look for burnt wiring or loose wires.
Assuming that the compressor has over heated and in a thermal, try restarting the unit and see what happens.
If it still wont start and is not tripping breakers, check the start/Run capacitor for bulging or leakage.

Compressor will not turn on, it sounds frozen. We flip the off/on switch on the compressor itself and it keeps kicking it back off. This is for a dental office HELP!

You may be having a voltage drop situation in your neighborhood. Compressors usually draw close to all of the power available from one circuit breaker and when there is a voltage drop you are experiencing what you are. First of all turn off everything else that is plugged into that same circuit as the compressor. If there are other items on that circuit and you can leave them off, then you may be ok for the time being. Ultimately you will have to have an electrician stop in and isolate that circuit.

Does this dental air compressor have a oil pressure safety switch?if so, where is it located? can I find a wiring diagram

Air compressors are designed to operate many different tools. The value of a commercial air compressor is many times greater than the purchase price because of the amount of work a single air compressor can perform. Dental air compressors are some of the most reliable because of the high-quality air they supply and precision tools they operate. As a result, dental air compressors can be adapted for a number of different tasks, including artistic air brush painting
1.Disconnect the air compressor from the dental tool air supply. Pressure and air supply rate-of-flow settings are different for air brush painting than for air delivery for dental tools.
2.Reset the air pressure on the tank to a range between 15 and 20 pounds per square inch (psi). The exact operating pressure for airbrush painting will vary, depending on the application and the type of paint used.
3.Reconnect an air-supply hose and a siphon style airbrush to the compressor.
4.Fill the airbrush's paint vile with lacquer-based paints. Test the air brush and paint performance on a piece of cardboard, or scrap piece of cloth
material before beginning the painting project. Every time the air compressor is connected to airbrush, or a new paint color is loaded into the brush, a short test spray should be performed. After each test adjust the air volume, and the paint flow in the gun to achieve the desired results8_16_2012_1_32_17_am.jpg
