I was using the tiller and all of a sudden the drive quit working buthe tinnes are still working i can not get it in gear forward or reverse thanks

When it is happening? Are there times it does not happen? Did it just start happening? Did it ever work ? It may be your belt tension or you may have the wrong belt it may be to short.

Could be the shifter inside the gearbox or it could be a stripped gear or broken chain. The bad news is you will have to remove the gearbox from the engine and then open the gearbox to see what is going on. This is quite time consuming but taking to a shop for this is very expensive due to the labor involved. You can do it yourself if you pay attention to how you take it apart.
