There are two things you need to check for this to work. On your TV see what resolution is supported. This will be available from the menu options on your tv remote while on the PC input (for most TVs)

On your computer, plug into a known working monitor and change the resolution to the one supported by the TV, or possibly lower. Then plug back into the TV. You should now get a display if you have set the resolutions correctly.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: I am trying to connect my PC to my TV,. Both have

You probably have a mismatch between the two devices relative to resolution. Check both to make sure that you are not asking the TV to do something that your normal monitor can accommodate. The Windows logo is normally drawn in the default VGA resolution of 640X480 or 600X800.
If you are using the common computer monitor resolution of 1024X768 your TV may not be able to sync to this.

SOURCE: im trying to watch movies

You would need to get a video card with an S-video or composite output. The sound comes from your speaker output jack (you can get a 3.5 mm stereo to dual RCA audio plug adapter cable for this).

If the TV accepts a USB connection try that format. If you have a HDMI port of the laptop, tether the two with an HDMI cable.
Other than that, unless you have WiFi capability between the laptop and TV receiver....nothing else works.

Pc wont work via hdmi

Click here to download the user manual to your Philips TV, and check its specification page. You can see compactable video formats that the TV can accept. Check it with your computers video out format.

I have a HP m7570n. How do I use a flat screen tv as a monitor

This depends on the TV's available inputs. The Pavilion m7570n has only a VGA output in the standard configuration.

Thus if the TV has a VGA port, turn off the computer and the TV. Then connect a standard VGA (RGB or D-sub 15-pin) m/m cable between the computer and the TV. To use the TV speakers, connect a 3.5 mm audio patch cable between the computers Line-out (green speaker port) to the VGA audio in. Turn on the TV and set the input to VGA (with the Source or Input button on the remote or the TV). Then turn on the computer. Windows XP should find the correct resolution to work with the TV. (If you turn on the TV after turning on the computer, you may get an unsupported signal. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to restart the computer.) If it doesn't work, you may need to connect a different monitor and set the computer to a low resolution before connecting the TV and the computer.

If the TV only has composite or component video inputs, you will need a VGA to video converter (http://www.svideo.com/pctocomponent.html for example). A VGA to component cable will not work; those are for projectors that read an RGB input. TVs interpret YPbPr.

If you have added a video graphics card, you may have an HDMI and/or DVI port(s) on the card. In that case, check the specs of the TV. Some TVs will support HDMI or DVI-HDMI inputs from a computer. Others will not (since computer video signals are not the same as the signal from a set-top box). If you use a DVI-HDMI connector, make sure to use the HDMI port labeled for DVI and connect the audio cable as with the VGA connection. If you use an HDMI connection, you may need to set the sound properties to that of the HDMI port. (Find the control panel item for sound (under Hardware) and then select Manage Audio Devices. Set the Playback properties. If it doesn't work, use an audio patch cable.) Some TVs have RCA audio inputs for the HDMI-DVI connector. In that case, you will need a female 3.5 mm to RCA M/M adapter (if you use a 3.5 mm patch cable). There is a similar device if you want to use an RCA audio cable. You may need to enable the video ports on the graphics card before swapping monitors.

Some video cards have a TV out. In that case, connect the appropriate connector (should come with the video card). Then connect to the component, composite or S-video input on the TV.

Again turn off the TV and the computer before making any connections.

You will probably need to provide your own cables for must of these connection options.

I hope this helps.

Can't connect to pc

How are you trying to connect to the PC? Does your video card support TV-out?

If you are trying to connect VGA to component video, you need a converter like this: http://www.svideo.com/pctocomponent.html . There are similar ones for PC to composite video. The VGA to component video cables will not work since the two signal formats are different.

Some video cards do have a TV-out option, you will need to read the documentation to set up that option. (Those cards come with a special dongle to connect the card to the TV cable.)

If you have the converter and are not getting the signal to the TV, first check that the computer video is set to use the external monitor. (This may need to be enabled in the BIOS.) Next check that the converter is working. (Try connecting to a different TV or this TV to another computer.) Try different cables and make sure that they are fully seated to all three devices. Replace the converter if you find that it has failed. (If it is under warranty, send it to the manufacturer.)

I hope this helps.

Video through S-Video connection has good picture, but it's all in black and white. No color. Why??

2 possible causes: the format of the image is an unsupported format - SECAM when your tv is NTSC - or the connection to the pin 4/Chrominance is interrupted - broken cable or S-Video connector. Check the first and replace the cable.

You have to set the computer to emit the correct resolution for the monitor.

Try setting to 1020 x 768 and see if that works.

Do this in the "display" settings in the control panel of your computer. Also make sure the Sony is set to receive on the VGA port.

Pc setting for sony bravia

'Unsupported Signal' Error indicates that TV is accepting the signals for Video but not able to display because resolution doesn't matches. Else the message would be 'No Signal'.
Follow the steps-
NOTE- Make sure cable is 15 pin(at both ends) VGA cable, working fine between PC & Monitor.
1.The standard resolution of laptop(any) which would support is 1024*768.
2. Toggle the display output from Laptop Fn Keys depending on Laptop Brand.
3. Connect the cable after settings made.
Also PC Settings will not be highlighted until connection is made.

How to connect acer aspire mini laptop to digital lcd tv?

You get the audio from PC: you must use a separate audio cable to your TV audio input.
Configure your PC Display properties to a lower resolution until you reach a format your tv can display.
If you use a flat digital screen check the manual to know the resolution to be used with VGA input.
Use Dual screen option or swittch main screen/external/both using FN key + blue key showing screen on your keyboard. (F4 or F7? check manual.)

Hot to connect acer aspire mini laptop to digital lcd tv?

Press the Blue function key and toggle the screens. You can view, the Laptop, the Laptop and Screen, or just the screen.

Also you will need to flick through the channel button on the TV to get to the PC interface. Since you indicated you were using a VGA cable, this is likely the missing element.

Note: The VGA cable does not carry audio, you either had a separate audio interface to the TV or you were using RBG/Composite/S-Video/HDMI. So check to make sure you are using the correct cables.
