Re: Word and excel document transfer
I'm afraid so. Documents to go uses a seperate converter program that work with the desktop installer program. That way you change documents on you Palm as well. I know mine was pretty pricy when I added the database system for Access files. That was the main reason why I needed it at the time.
Just got a Blackberry a few weeks ago and was surprised at the pricetag to do it. I think it was running $75.00.

in terms of file support all the usual suspects are covered: ePUB, PDF,
FB2, TXT, HTML, and XML, although it lacks support for more complex
documents like Microsoft Excel or Word documents. Support for JPEG, GIF,
PNG, BMP, and MP3 files
suggestion try converting a file to any of these supported files by VS...see if it works if so do all.. before conversion make a copy for back up of the file
- Eject the card
- Open Document to Go
- While still opening the application (in the browser screen), insert the card back to device. The browser will show the card on the top right.
- Just close the application as usual. Reopen again, and it should be back to normal.
With Documents-To-Go, you generally use their sync software to keep the files updated. If you used this software to put the document on the device, open the program up and click on that file to check it's settings on the right. You may need to delete the file off of the device, and reinstall it from the Docs2Go software. There are times when a document can become corrupted and needs a fresh reinstallation to get it back.
It could just be that document, but I suspect if you've followed typical trouble-shooting steps you wouldn't be posting unless you already tried other documents. If that is the case, I would recommend you uninstall and reinstall documents to go from your device.
I saved an empty blank Word doc. and excel sheet. to my phone via Microsoft Active Sync. Now I just open the blank doc. edit the file, and save it as a diffrent file name. I'm still left with the blank doc. and an edited file.
i had that problem too. sorry it is bugging you. i know you probably want to sync your data rught now. So for now try to disable the syncing of documents to go (just for now) on palm desktop, look for the conduits and temporarily disable the syncing of docs to go. Also ensure you plug in your pda charger as well as the usb cable (I found out this helps through experience) and sync. (Just to back it up)
as for the documents to go, there is probably a file(document) that is generating the errors. please look through documents to go on your palm desktop and remove any file you feel is not necessary. also take note that it is best if your pda has some free memory on it. you may want to save those documents on a disk (If you are not already that is..) clearing up ram made my tx more stable esp during hot sync.
please let me know it that worked for you. i still have some suggestions good luck and enjoy
