DPH-50U driver using high DPCs

My PC has been rather sluggish. I did some testing. I found the culprit to be the driver for my DPH-50U. When this driver is enabled my DPCs go through the roof. Way too high. Making my CPU usage abput 30% even when my system is at idle. As soon as i disable the driver the DPCs go down to almost zero.

I am using the latest driver from D-Link. I sent a email to D-Link support. Didn't get an answer yet.

Try testing thison your PC running XP. With no programs running, open windows task manager and clickon the performance tab. You will see CPU usage is between 17 & 30%. It should be 0 - 3%. Then, go into the device manager and right click on the dlink VOIP device and select disable. Then check your CPU usage. You will see a dramatic reduction of cpu usage when system is at idle.

I'll let you know if I hear anything from d-link about this problem.

I had the same problem. Here's what I did to fix it. Unplug device. Download the v1.1 of the software, extract to a directory, run setup, when prompted for the drivers, point windows to the directory I ran setup from. Finally, I plugged the device into a usb port directly on my laptop (rather than through the port replication). Some combination of all that made the situation much better.

No special firewall rules needed for DPH-540 and Dlink DI-604 router

My DPH-540 works fine behind a DI-604 NAT router, without any special firewall configuration on the DI-604 (I connect to either RingCentral or SIPPhone). I hope to get another SIP phone and see if both phones can work simultaneously behind the NAT router; many web sites suggest that a different proxy port must be used (the default is 5060).

Tip

Configure the DPH-540 with RingCentral

To get the DPH-540 to work with RingCentral, you need to add a DigitalLine to your RC service. Then you need ignore the email sent by RingCentral which provides configuration info; instead, login to your account on the RC web site.
Click on the Preferences tab, then the "Setup Instructions" for the DigitalLine device. That should produce a popup window with info like:

SIP Domain: sip.ringcentral.com:5060
Outbound Proxy: sip.ringcentral.com:5090
User Name: 1805715xxxx
Password: yyyyyyy
Authorization ID: yyyyyyy

The password will be the same as the Authorization ID.

Configure your DPH-540 just enough so that it can obtain an IP address via DHCP. Then use a browser to configure most of the rest of the DPH-540 (user admin, password admin by default). However, the browser interface does not let you associate a SIP configuration with a profile; that must be done on the phone itself (consult the userguide and just keep at it; it's not that hard).

For an image of what the web interface and config page for a DPH-540 SIP configuration looks like, see http://homepage.mac.com/saj777/techtips/DPH-540_RC-config.jpg

I have installed Skype 3.8 and d-link driver 1.01 on Windows xp. I can select the device from the audio setting but receive no dial tone. Please assist!

In your VoIP monitor settings there are two options to make your phone connect to voip. You either have to dail # # or # *. I would try hitting pound twice, but it's kind of tricky because sometimes when the dlink tries to connect it will flip back and forth between voip and pstn. So I recommend holding the phone to your ear and hitting # until you hear that dial tone!

Can't get the D link DPH 540 TO GET A CONNECT TO WI FI

Dear Stoneway,

First create a network profile if not yet done so

Menu > Profile > Network Profile

then edit it, go to Account Choice and select "Default".

The "No SIP Account" error most likely comes from having a blank field in "Account Choice".

It's easier to set up the DPH-540 from the web admin interface, so you can try first to at least get an IP address assigned to the phone then use that IP address to access the phone from another laptop on that same wireless network. But again by the time you manage to thumb your way to get an IP address assigned, you have 3/4 of the problem already resolved so you may as well thumb in that finishing touch :-)

DPH-50U can't be uninstalled or reinstalled correctly

To solve a problem "device not present", you must delete registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{55280429-413e-460f-a31a-e19314823119}\0001" and restart service "VService".

DPH-50U default audio

I had the same problem. I just reinstalled the hardware manually through the install new hardware module in XP. Once I did that, Skype "saw" the D-Link adapter.
'I went into "add new hardware" clicked "yer, hardware is already installed" then selected the D-Link device that will be listed. You have to have the driver already installed, then let the OS install the hardware as it always does and then you should see the D-Link driver as one of the choices.

This drove me crazy too. I hope this works for all of you. Good Luck.
