The monitor will display that message until the computer starts and outputs a valid signal to the monitor.
If the computer is on and you still get that message, then you may have a bad video card/video circuit or a bad cable between the computer and monitor.

I have nothing to plug p3 and p4 into when all on no signal

Sometimes if a VGA cable is not screwed into to both your Tower and your Monitor, it can get loose and thus resulting in no signal.
Another cause of a Monitor Displaying the no signal message would be due to the Graphic Card failing, or possibly due to the Graphic Card not correctly being seated.

Other Thoughts
--------------------
Usually P3 and P4 refers to a cable on your power supply that needs to be attach to your motherboard to supply extra power.

Note:
If your P4 cable is not plugged in before turning on your computer, this will also result in your Monitor displaying the no signal message.
Keep in mind though, if your computer has not been opened or is not a custom built PC, you should not have to worry about such issues as your P4 cable should in theory be connected. However I guess safely checking won't hurt anyone.

If you have a known-good video card and a known-good VGA cable connected, another possibility is that the monitor is defective

When my computer says check signal cable what does it mean?

Your monitor is telling you that it thinks it is not receiving a video signal from the computer. You need to verify which of three components is not working, the computer, the cable, or the monitor.

The first thing to do, obviously, is to check that the cable connecting the computer to monitor is good. You will need some extra components to do the checking. I'm going to assume that the cable is detachable at both ends.
First you can try replacing the cable with different one. If the replacement cable works, then it's the cable.
Secondly, you can try different monitor. If you connect this in place of the first monitor, and it works, it's a faulty monitor (needs repairing or replacing).
Third try a different computer with the original cable and monitor, if it all works it looks like the video on your PC has malfunctioned. (This might also be your conclusion if a system comprising a different cable and monitor fails to work with the original PC)
You might just be able to verify the cable by testing the connectivity of all the wires in the cable with a meter, if you knew the pin out of the cable at both ends.
If you find out the computer is getting a signal out, there could be many causes for that, each having its own solution (or not as the case may be)

When i turn my monitor on its black and has a flotaing box that says check signal cable. I have like and its right so im Lost at what the problem is. Help please

Hello,
  • Is the CPU running? If not, check the power connections.[Also check the monitors]
  • Remove the VGA cable and reconnect it again. This is the cable that connects the CPU to the monitor.
  • If problem persists, replace the cable.

Hope it helps.Thanks!

My dell 470 wont boot up every thing seems to be working but when i turn on i get a blank screen and no signal displayed Edward

This means that your monitor is not receiving a signal from your graphics card.
Here are the things that you can try:
-Disconnect and reconnect your monitor from your computer.
-Try using a different cable to connect your monitor to your computer.
-Try connecting your monitor to another computer, if it works there it means that there's a problem with your graphics card and it may require a replacement. If your monitor is still saying no signal even if it has been connected to another computer that works fine then the problem is with the monitor.

The computer comes on but the monitor turns on with three colors and say no signal. I tried pressing the F11 key numerous times but it didn't work

check if the VGA cable is properly connected.

If the cable is properly connected, disconnect the monitor and connect it to another computer. If the other computer is working fine, then probably the videocard of your computer is defect and needs to be replaced.

I have a HP s3020n slimline the pc is running but not sending any signal to the monitor

Well... try un-plugging the VGA cable... ie., the monitor cable behind the tower...... if u get a message on screen saying No VGA Input... can confirm there is no issues with the monitor...

if you are using graphic card in computer unplug that and connect the VGA cable to normal display card came along with the computer and try...

or if you have another monitor... u can try connecting that to the tower which is not sending the signal to monitor and try....

even then you get the same problem... get an new graphic card... (if you dont have other monitor try with new graphic card)

Do not know

no signal usually means no connection from your video card, make sure you properly inserted the cable from the video card and to your monitor... and check you don't have bent pin on the cable that you use.
