Need the Focus Adjusting 'Rack' for Rack and Pinion For 565x60 model 78-9565 Bushnell Voyager Refactor Telescope

The 'Rack' from the 'Rack and Pinion' Focusing gear set is stripped and I need to replace it as quick as possible! The Rack is a plastic or nylon part in the Focusing Mechanism.

SOURCE: the eye piece keeps falling

There are several different types of eyepiece holders:

Set-Screw-- this is a small screw on the side of the diagonal that holds in the eyepiece.

Compression ring-- again a small set screw but a brass compression ring tightens onto the eyepiece.

Plain Compression Diagonal-- the diagonal is a tight fit to the eyepiece- try binding it slightly in to get a tighter fit.

Not worth repairing-- a new focuser for your telescope would cost as much or more than the telescope-- unless you can find a discarded telescope of the same model..... for parts.

Hi , I have a Bushnell 570 x 60 Rotary Compact Reflector Model 78-9570 and both rack and pinion focusing knobs have broken off - the alloy(?) has broken about 1/2" from the black knob. Is it worth...

No it's not --- junk it and buy another telescope. This time avoid Bushnell- Tasco, and Edu Science scopes.

Check out the Orion web site here, for a Dobsonian reflector telescope. The most aperture for the least amount of money.

The focusing knob and the toothed focus rack on the underside of my telescope has disintigrated, I suspect through electrolytic reaction of the different metals. Is there a repair facility in East Sussex...

There are no dealers left in East Sussex who understand telescopes although there are a few dealers selling them as a sideline to their main business.

But just to the north of you in Edenbridge, Kent is Telescope House. They're probably the best specialist telescope supplier in the UK and worth the short trip from where you are. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

From memory, the fault you have is common to a number of Bushnell models so there may already be a repair kit or you may have to replace the entire focusser assembly for one which hasn't been made as poorly as Bushnell usually supply.

I hope that you solve this problem soon as there's some great viewing lately! If my answer has been of assistance please return the favour by rating it.
