Verify internet connection-not connecting

reset the router by holding in the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds, then wait for all lights to return. If you have DSL wait for the dsl light to be on solid, once thats complete if your using vista and still unable to connect run "diagnose and repair". If after that your still unable to connect, open "run" type "cmd" and hit enter....the type "ipconfig" and hit enter, you should get an ip address, subnet and default gateway. one at a time type "ping" hit space bar 1 time then type the ip address in as shown in the list and hit enter, if 4 return then ping the default gateway, if it returns 4 then ping www.yahoo.com, if return 4 then remove Norton or Mcafee from your system and try again.

Unable to connect to the router! check that the router has been connected to the pc. i have already reset my router. the lights are flickering constantly. pls help me

sounds like your router is bricked.
you can try unbrick it by downloading the latest firmware from linksys.com
if your running win xp you can tftp the firmware to your router.
first you need to set your computer to a static ip address
192.168.1.5 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
then go to start run.
type cmd and hit enter
a black window should appear
you should be able to ping the router. type
ping 192.168.1.1
if it returns successful then do the following. if it doesn't change your network settings and make sure u got a static ip.
unzip the firmware you downloaded to drive c
type
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put C:\nameoflinksysfirmware.bin
hit enter
it should say successfully uploaded if it works. go ahead and power off the router and power it back on.
if that doesn't work try uploading it again.

LAN Network, both PC's with static IP's and defaullt and DNS addresses are 192.1683.1.1 tried the other defaults. Both machines connected. when i ping each others IP's request timed out. please help

Hi,
Can not really understand what exactly you have done. Please try the following steps:
1. Assign static IP on pc 1 as 192.168.1.2 assign subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. 2. No need to assign default gateway and DNS. 3. Assign static IP on pc 2 as 192.168.1.3 assign subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. 4. No need to assign default gateway and DNS.
Open dos and try to ping. In case if the ping fails then disable all the firewall on both the pc's and try again.
If you are running windows vista then in network and sharing center make sure network discovery and file sharing is enabled.
Regards,
Rashish

Unable to establish connection between PC and router.

Check your PC NIC card is installed properly in device manager or connect your PC directly to MODEM and check if IP, DG and DNS would appear.

If that works, then you know its the router (Belkin). Try resetting it to factory defaults by pressing the RESET button.

I have a class b network setup 255.255.0.0 my ip address is 192.168.5.101 subnet 255.255.0.0 i have two computers 192.168.99.100 and 192.168.99.200 that i cannot ping. but i can ping 192.168.99.144 all...

Could be they have their windows firewall turned on or they have a 3rd party firewall. Also could be they have a different version of windows running, i experienced this problem with a mixture of winxppro and winxphome on the same network.

I cant access router ip address

You must make sure that your PC get connection with the router first. you must enter on the command prompt.
1st step- click start, go on run.
2nd step- type "cmd", there will be a black window which will opened.
3rd step- write "ipconfig", there will be a default gateway given just below the subnet mask.
4th step- write ping then the default gateway; for example: "ping 192.168.0.1". if is is replying, your PC get connection with your router. But if not there may be a problem with your cable or something else. then your can try to make a reset no your router. there is a reset button at the back of the router.

Netgear WG602 wireless router,

Hi, Assuming that the WG602 is fully operational, when you did a hard reset, the router reverted to its original factory setting as you posted. The default pre-configuration: act as a DHCP client; if the WG602 does not find a DHCP server on the Ethernet LAN, it defaults to this IP configuration: DHCP Client - Enable IP Address ? 192.168.0.227 IP Subnet Mask ? 255.255.255.0 Gateway ? 0.0.0.0 Your PC need to be connected via a LAN cable to one of the Ethernet ports of the AP/Router to be able to configure it again to your desired network settings. Further it is necessary likewise to manually configure the connected PC's networking configuration to match the router. Manually configure your PC's IP Address to 192.168.0.228, Subnet Mask ? 255.255.255.0, Gateway - 192.168.0.227. You can now try configuring the router through its web interface (192.168.0.227). This is better explained in the user's manual available at the Netgear site ( Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
