On the bottom of the remote on right side, right next to the master volume - key . it is actually called muting instead of just mute. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: HDMI out jack physically broken on my rx-v1900. Fixable?

An audio repair shop should be able to get a replacement connector and swap it for you. I doubt that the part is available from Yamaha (and it would be pricy if it was). The connector shouldbe available generically. Digikey or Mouser should be a good source.

SOURCE: yamaha rx-v530 volume maxes out when turned on

If you are using the remote to raise the volume of the unit, my advice is to forget that function, and turn volume manually. I had a similar problem with a Sony receiver and the solution was simply to put aside the remote. Remotes are infra-red based, and if you have other components with infra-red this can cause undesired interference and malfunction. Good Luck.

Sound volume knob does't respond

Chances are that it's a digital volume control.

The fact that it turns down again means it's probably fixable.

Open it up (switch it off first), and fetch a soldering iron. Look around for wires that go from the volume control and see if any are loose connections/broken wires etc etc. Solder these again, and it should work.

If you don't fancy this, take it to a hifi shop and they'll fix it for you (there'll probably be a fee involved)

Yamaha RX-V800 volume knob on receiver not working.

It sounds like the volume control pod has gone bad and needs replaced (The knob shaft connects to the pod main body and the inside of the volume pod is what controls the rate of volume,If the inside becomes worn ,broken or dirty the volume will become erratic) Replace volume pod ! ..You may try cleaning by taking off the volume knob and getting a can of pressure air and blowing the dust out!

Broken volume knob

I located the remote control for the unit and it works fine. As the unit is not the primary amplifier for the home stereo system, I use the remote to control the volume. Thank you for your quick responce, and I will keep you in mind for any future needs.

Volume knob quirks

if you know how to repair, then replace the volume control switch. it is a digital type/mechanical type of switch with silicone oil on it to prevent sudden turn of volume. if i were the repairman i can simply clean the contacts of the volume control and pour silicon oil again. but i really dont know in your area if they try to clean those.
