SOURCE: Coffee tastes like plastic!

Will improve with time. Run lemon juice per every cup of water for the first month or so. What can I say - it's a mostly plastic coffee maker. Also, try using the charcoal water filters.

Need instruction book for Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System Model # CUISS-700

Here are the instructions to de-scale your Cuisinart SS-700, taken directly from the unit's manual, available here (www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/ss-700.pdf):

1. Empty the reservoir.

2. Disable the AUTO OFF and OFF TIME features.

3. Making sure there is no K-Cup in the brewing chamber, fill the reservoir with 60 oz. of undiluted white vinegar.

4. Place a large mug on the drip tray and run a Hot Water cycle. Select the 12 oz. brew size. Discard contents of mug.

5. Repeat the hot water process until ADD WATER is displayed on the control panel and the reservoir lights will flash.

6. Let the Brewer stand for at least four hours while still on.

7. Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and fill with fresh water.

8. Run another Hot Water cycle. Discard contents of large mug.

9. Repeat hot water process until ADD WATER is displayed on the control panel and the reservoir lights will flash.

10. You may need to perform additional Hot Water cycles if you detect any residual vinegar taste.

Note: If DE-SCALE is still displayed on the control panel after completing the procedure, repeat the de-scaling procedure above.

Moldy taste from Whirlpool side by side

The problem can still be in your lines, or in the dispenser itself. If you run hot water with a little bit of vinegar in the lines and let it sit for about 30 minutes and then flush the whole system this should take care of your problem

Coffee not tasting good

To make the self-clean light go off, just unplug the coffeemaker for longer than 20 minutes. As far as not tasting right, did you try flushing the vinegar out of the coffeemaker using plain water, or water mixed with 1 tbsp lemon juice per cup? Also, get rid of your current charcoal water filter - after time, it will disintegrate, and your coffee will have a hint of charcoal.

Funny tasting coffee

Vinegar/water cleaning is a good idea, but it won't necessarilly solve funny-tasting coffee. First, replace your charcoal water filter - you can get the Cuisinart brand-name replacements at Lowe's, Bed/Bath/Beyond, or Williams-Sonoma in most areas.

To do the vinegar/water cleaning, just pour 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water into the water reservoir and brew it like it was regular coffee - I would simply bypass the self-clean function if your Cuisinart has one. Repeat up to 3 times, using a fresh batch of vinegar each time.
(if you have the caraffe-less DCC-2000, then just pour in 4 cups vinegar and 6 cups water).

Then run a full cycle of water. Then run a combo of 12 tsp lemon juice and 12 cups water (or 10 tsp and 10 cups water) to improve the taste.

On your next batch of coffee, use bottled water just to rule out any possibility that your local water supply may be contributing to funny-tasting coffee.

Now your coffee should be tasting fine again.

Cuisinart DCC2000 quits brewing after 1or 2 cups

Finally, I got my coffee pot to run through without stopping several times. To fix it I had to run vinegar through eight times! Never before has it taken so many cycles to clean out a pot. It is still spluttering a bit so today I am going to get more vinegar or maybe even CLR and run it through a few more times.

Dp i use vinegar to clean my 12 cup on demand coffee maker

It depends on the hardness of the water used in the brewer. Personally reverse osmosis water is the only good water to use in a brewer. If your brewer is a dcc-1200 the water that you pour in is used at the time of brewing and isn't stored and heated, waiting to be used like restaurant brewers. Vinegar is ok if you flush a couple of pots after you are done cleaning. It is more to get the residual taste of vinegar out of the first new brewed pot of coffee. If you have more than 10 grains of hardness you may consider frequent vinegar usage or a specialized acid for tank and element cleanup. Just be sure that when you are done that you have sufficiently flushed the brewer. On a 1200 series it will probably only take two or three pots of water to flush any residual taste or smell out of the brewer. Donot try this with a holding tank brewer like a Bunnomatic unless you have test strips or flush with water about thirty times. I did a test on a Bunn with test strips and it took about thirty pots to return the water to a normal level on an acid alkali test strip. A good heavy duty product is called limeaway. Just follow directions and flush completely. I am sending a pic of a brewer with a holding tank. If you look down inside you will see slabs of pure lime scale. Vinegar won't touch this. We use hydrochloric acid and a hammer to remove this. Have fun, Rick in Indy. 23 to 50 76a3856.jpggrains per gallon here.
