HP Solutions won't open - Windows XP

  1. My Operating system is Windows XP.
  2. I have been using my HP C5280 printer/scanner without incident for almost a year.
  3. Starting 2 days ago, I cannot access HP Solutions to use the scanner tools. When I click on the Icon on my desktop or tray, the hourglass symbol flashes for a second, then nothing happens.
  4. I can still print, or scan by going through my control panel, but no access to HP Solutions for cropping and tools.
  5. I have uninstalled/reinstalled a dozen times, been online with HP Chat and followed each of their instructions with no luck. Everything else works fine. Any ideas?

HP8270 scanner software will not open.
Gives error message> An error occured commun1cating with the scanning device. Please insure the scanning device is connected properly.
I can see the scanner connect and disconnect if I plug in or pull the usb cable out.
I have loaded drivers and software 5 times off of 3 different CD's as we have more of this model on site. Yes rebooted after ever uninstall and reinstall.
I can go to Control Panel and click Scanners and Camera's and the scanner works and will scan pages as they were pictures.
No matter This proves the usb cable and scanner are OK if I can scan via the above listed software. The Software is HP Solution Center that came with the scanner. I have 7 others I had no problems with when I installed on the same make and model computer. Dell 620

My laptop does not recognize the USB cable during a reinstallation of the HP Photosmart C5280 all-in-one printer. Yet, it recognizes the cable when I use it for another printer.

1) Do you have the drivers for the C5280 installed on the laptop?
Each printer (All-In-One) has to have it's own drivers.
The C5280 and the other printer.

Drivers are small pieces of software that allow the Operating System to 'communicate' with a device.
{Windows XP and Windows 7 being two examples of an O/S. The device in this case is an all-in-one printer ]

If you already have both drivers for both printers installed, post back in a Comment.

It would seem that if the USB cable works okay on a different all-in-one printer, that the problem is Not the USB cable, but the printer.

This is what draws me to conclude, that the drivers for the C5280 have not been installed.

When downloading a printer driver from HP you will need to ensure that you are selecting the correct OS (eg. Windows 7) and the appropriate version (eg. 64 or 32 bit operating system). These drivers are different and using one on the other will not work.
Windows XP drivers also will not work properly in a Windows 7 environment and the majority of Windows XP drivers are 32-Bit.

I need software for my hp psc 1410v for the scanner

Open this link, hp psc 1410 drivers/softwares, click "select" below the "Select your operating system" and select the Operating System installed on the system where you are going to install the printer, i.e. windows xp, windows vista, windows 7 etc... Click "Next", then click "+Drivers.." and click "download" on the right hand side beside the link "Hp officejet and psc full feature software and drivers", if a warning message pops up, click "No thank you" and download will start automatically.

If you have problem doing this, let me know with the Operating System installed on your system. If you mention the Operating System installed on your system. It's easier for both of us.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.
