SOURCE: Other end of our Skype cannot hear. Microphone

Test your microphone by following the setup process through the Skype program. If it works there you may be having an issue with the speed of your internet connection or too many processes running while trying to use your skype.

If you hold down the CTRL and ALT keys and then click the DEL key once then you can start up the Task Manager.

When you start up the Task manager click on the Processes tab and look at the CPU Usage. If the CPU Usage is high you may not have enough resources available to run the sound card correctly.

If everything seems okay but the mic does not work at all, then follow the sound card instructions listed here:

http://icompute.info/no_sound_from_card.htm

make sure that what your setting as the defualt is the microphone as well as the sound card.

After that I would make sure your internet connection on both ends is fast enough. You can test this at www.speakeasy.net/speedtest .

Hope this helps...

SOURCE: I cannot unmute my microphone.

On your Skype menu go to "Tools" at the top of your menu.
Select "Options" and then select "Audio Settings".
There is a drop down menu for "Microphone".
Try selecting each option until you see the "Volume Bar" start indicating that your mic is working.

Why can my friends not hear me talking to them on Skype?

On a Mac mini made in 2010 or later, you'll need to use an external microphone to communicate as they're not built in. Plugging in a pair of Apple EarPods or headphones into the headphone jack should work just fine.

USB microphones will also do the trick (but you'll need to adjust some audio settings in Skype).

Hope this helps!

Make sure you have installed the Acer's audio driver for your model laptop. Test the audio by playing a music CD.

If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.

I was on Fixaya and paid 29.99 and didn't have any resolution. OI have Skype and everything works but I cannot hear my friends and they can hear me clear as if I was in the room with them.

I had to remove the Skype that came with my computer, then re-install the new version...do not forget to shut your Norton firewall and add Windows Firewall instead. Adjust speakers and microphone with the new version of Skype, adjust levels and keep the Norton Firewall shut and use only windows. Then reconfigure Skype with your own settings and restart your computer. Leave it for about 2 minutes and start the computer again. Choose your new settings for internet ,as it was not working, and open Internet Explorer to see if it works. Then call someone on Skype to see if they can hear you and it worked very well.

The session with the gentleman that came online didn't seem to know anything about Skype and was at a loss to help me. Also, he didn't really have any suggestions that could help me. The session was cut short and I think he shut it off.

Thank you for the reimbursement as nothing was solved as per your agreement.

Kind Salutations to you all

Cannot hear my voice in the skype test skype is set up on the ubuntu operating system

Firstly, what version of Ubuntu and Skype are you using? Also what machine.

There are three areas where the issue could be - within Skype's settings, withing Ubuntu's settings or with the microphone/soundcard.

I'll cover some quick attempts at solving, assuming it's the first two.

OK, first make sure Ubuntu's settings are correct. If you can access the sound settings (generally there is a Speaker icon in the top right). Right click, 'open volume control'. Often you need the 'boost' level as well as the usual microphone - if you have 'Front Mic', sometimes you need 'Front Mic Boost too', likewise if you have 'Microphone', you might need 'Microphone Boost'. In the Volume Control, click preference to add the 'boost' level.

If that didn't work it might be your Skype settings. In Skype options, 'sound devices' try changing the 'sound in'.

If those didn't work it might be hardware (or another trickier software issue) - try testing your microphone on something else.
