Question about HP OfficeJet 4215 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My officejet is in the computer somewhere, but I cant accsess it.

I am trying to open the officejet program in order to scan some docs, but unable to find it.
I do not have a shortcut to it, and when I look under programs it corresponds to the printer and faxes icon. when I click on it and right click to open it.
I get some mail box instead of the wizard.
I have looked every where I can think of but no luck.
should I download a new driver?
and if so will I need to configure it to my computer?
it is set up know, and I guess configured (someone else did that for me).
it prints and copys ok.

It appears you may have a corrupt or cross indexed shortcut to the scan option.

A driver is not what you are looking for, but the program. You can look in Computer>C Drive>Program
Files>for HP or Hewlett Packard or similar, and see if you can find scan the file to launch from there.

Otherwise, get the original disk, and re-install the program. The re-install should maintain your current settings.

try to reinstall the driver s for the printer/scanner ...and see if the issue is solved.....Another thing ....if the scanner is used by multiple computers you have to give the scanning command from the computer ...and not from the scanner itself...This way you will be able to import the scan result into the library of the program that drives it ..
another thing that may happen is the link to be broke ...so ..get to the fax and printers in the start menu ...and open it ..and redo the link ..by scanning for printers and choose it again from the list ..(by name ) ..and make it the default printer/scanner..

Hi,

Please install the printer software and try to scan via the installed software from the computer. Or, start scan using scan button from printer; after installing software.

Well once you have digitized all the documents can they all be converted to PDF?
THen all you need to do is to make sure the titles are in numeric order as page 1 - whatever
Adobe PDF acrobat professional lets you place them all into one doc.
On the left open page options at the top of this menu you can insert after of befor all the rest of the docs just open the lead doc and then add pages to thea you will build a book

Is it giving you a message as NO SCAN OPTIONS in the front panel of your All-In-One...?
If yes and if the software is insatlled sucessfully in you computer then try the steps mentioned bellow.
If the software is not installed then you will have to install the software for your All-In-One First.

And If the software is successfully installed in your computer, then you should have a icon in your desktop as HP Solution /HP Director (if not got to Start> All Programs>
HP> HP Solution Center)/HP Director Then try scanning from there, if you are able to scan from there then try the steps bellow.
Open solution center> Settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Then in this window click on Restore defaults> Then apply or ok and close all the windows and try to scan from the
All-In-One printer.
If it still does not work then try the bellow steps:
Go to:
My computer>C:windows>system32
Copy hpzipm12
minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:>windows>system32
Copy hpzinw12
minimize this window

Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Now you will see two new files in Startup
Now go to My Computer>C:Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging>bin>
Copy hpqtra08
close this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Restart the computer
Open Hp Solution Center> Settings>Scan settings and preferences> Scan to button>
check destination list> if available applications are not in the destination list then add them in the front panel destination
Tried to scan.

Good Luck

This message will come up when you are scanning from the Stand alone printer not from the computer.

If the software is sucessfully installed in your computer,
Then you should have a icon which says HP Director / HP Solution Center (If not Goto> Start> All Programs> HP and then you will see them
Open HP Director/Solution Center and try scanning from there, It should scan from there.
If yes then go to settings> Scann Settings> Scan to setup> There you see an option which says Front panel Destination list> Click that and there you see a options says Restore Defaults> Click that> then Apply and Ok> And close all the indows and try scanning from the All-In-One.

If it does not work then try the steps bellow:

Go To:
My computer>C:windows>system32
Copy hpzipm12
minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:>windows>system32
