Open Question

Hotpoint rla34 future fridge compressor is running but not getting cold even when I bybass the thermostat

Yes I have tested the thermostat the contact is closed at room temp. not tried it by putting in the freezer to check if it opens, don't think that is necessary as the fridge compressor is running but it is not cooling.

Sounds like you're low on gas...assuming that the condenser coils are clean.

SOURCE: Fridge dont get cold.

If the compressor is running then it could be one of the following:
The compressor isn't pumping properly. The thermosat has failed. It has lost refrigerant or there is a blockage.
Not alot of help I know but without seeing the fridge it's hard to say.

Hotpoint ice diamond RFA52 P freezer ok fridge not cold enough, this is not a frost free and there are no vents in fridge or feezer?

Good day, please check at the back, at the bottom where the compressor is located for the pencil dryer(as in photo). Get a nice firm grip on it just be careful and feel the temp if it's cold or one side is hot and the other side cold the dryer is block. Otherwise feel the thickest pipe running into the compressor it should be cold if the fridge has been running for a while and the thin copper pipe existing the compressor should be hot. If the thin pipe is freezing up with a thick layer of ice and the dryer as some med-temp then there's a gas leak. If the thin copper pipe is very hot and the dryer has no temp then there's a blockage but if the thin copper pipe feels med-temp and the thick copper pipe more or less the same but a bit cooler the compressor is not pumping also feel if the compressor is running. If dryer as a warmth temp and the thin copper pipe is hot and the thick one very cold(when tipping your finger on your tongue and pressing it against the pipe your finger should stick a bit) if all checks out then it's the thermostat switching the compressor off at the rong temp.

Why is Hotpoint RLA64T Fridge freezing up after new thermostat fitted?

Make sure that the temp probe from the thermostat is located exactly where the old one was. If it had a plastic sleeve on the old one, the new one will need that sleeve. You shouldn't need to calibrate the control if it is the one specified for this model. If it was a generic replacement then possibly it could need some adjustment.

Hotpoint RLA64T fridge freezing up after new thermostat fitted

WHEN U TALK ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT U MEAN THE COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT OR DEFROST TIMER THERMOSTAT? WHEN UR PROBLEM SOUNDS MORE LIKE THE DEFROST TERMINATOR OR BAD HEATING ELEMENT, LOCATED ON THE FREEZER EVAPORATOR COILS? IF ITS STAYING ON ALL THE TIME U HAVE A DEFROST ISSUE? OR BAD SEALS ON DOOR AND DIRTY COMPRESSOR

Fridge not getting as cold as it should, also i can't hear the motor running. Do you think the thermostat has broken down?

No, if you can hear the compressor at the back running and the fridge isn't getting cold then it most likely means there is a leak in the refrigerant system and the gas has leaked out. This is usually terminal as the likely hood of finding the leak then repairing it and replacing the gas can be quite expensive

Refrigerator does not get cold. The freezer works fine, but the fridge only gets slightly cool.

normaly the fridge has its own thermostat to keep the tem right, if this thermostat has stoped working it will do one of two things,,, freez every thing up as it wont turn off the compressor or will just stop working as it wont turn on the compressor,,, try turning up the thermostat first,

Thermostat

HI, your intuitions are correct. this is defiantly a thermostat issue here. replacing this defective thermostat will fix this abnormal issue you are having with your unit.

When a unit of this nature cannot control the Coldness level, it is always due to a defective thermostat.
