Hitachi 50V500 double imaging -- makes you think you need glasses
Hi, Our Hitachi is about 4 yrs old and the double imaging keeps getting worse. It doesn't matter if we are watching through the satelite or a DVD. The channel menu through the satellite is almost unreadable. The lamp indicator light isn't lit so I guess that isn't the problem. Also the picture is bright and the colors are good. It is just the blurry images that are driving us crazy. I read somewhere on your site that the 12C service menu should be accessed to correct the problem. If that is true, how can I do that? Helppppp.

I might also help to have the manufacturer help you step by step process. They can help direct you through the steps otherwise it shall also let you know directly on the manufacturers website [hitachi.com] A year back they used to have an interactive assistance approach but it appears they no longer are offering that.
How long have you had your lamp in there for? Also, have you hooked it up to another type of connection lately? If so, what is it?
Let me know those answers to better assist you. In the mean time you can also contact the manufacturer regarding this mishap to get the step-by-step over the phone or via their website.
I'm eager to hear how things work out for you. I wish you the best of luck with it!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You need to upgrade to the high definition
cable box---but first try this. Hook the cable from the wall directly to the tv
and autoprogram it. If Comcast is anything like charter they transmit the local
Hd channels in a format that digital tuner will pick them up. Just channel
up/down and check out the channels with -1 and -2's behind them. Depending on
where you are----your local channels will usually show up wherever they
normally do but with a -1 behind it.
EX: local Fox channel on 47---autoprogram and check 47-1
If this is enough HD for you then get a two way spitter and hook your box back
up and keep using the RCA (composite) cables for the best it can produce.
I am answering this because I know this set and do not like the answers you have received.
If you see a slight "ghost" to the left or right of lettering--it can be corrected with the remote--there is a exact way to do this--I have done it before and have instructions based on a service bulletin from Hitachi.
Confirm you have the ghosting to right or left of letters and I would be happy to post the instructions to correct that--all of it is done with the Hitachi remote that came with the set.
If you decide to do it I will give you the instructions and help you do it.
I have helped 4 other people here with the exact same set and problem.
Understand that not all people here know what they are talking about-I am sorry you got a poor answer, but I know this set well.
You want to fix it for free? I can help you.
Keep in mind I am in California and possible time differences.

Highlight “MEMORY INTI”, arrow to the right andholdthe button to the right (approx 5 sec.) until a check mark appears in the box. This activates the Memory Initialization. 6.After the Memory initialize operation has finished (10~15 sec, the channel will revert to CH 3.) the pink image symptom should be fixed. 7.Write back the adjustment values from your notes to their respective adjustment parameters in the adjustment mode. (In other words, set the Data Values back to the the Data values written down before the Memory Initialization procedure). NOTE: Make sure the SELECT Button is pressed on remote after every change to the values. Failure to do so will result in the data values not being changed. 8.Exit I2C menu. Press exit repeatedly until you go back to the normal picture. 9.Turn the set off-on andConfirm the picture remains in a good condition.
