Look for a circuit breaker that has tripped Reset the breaker then by turning off your washing machine for a few minutes if it still is not working either the power cord is broken or the control panel is no longer working on the washer and needs to be repaired.
Hi I hope you solved this by now but I thought an answer might be useful if anyone else has the same question. I am not an expert just an owner of a LG WD-1412RD. It sounds like your mum is not aware this is just the normal safety cool down period following drying (as the stainless steel interior gets very hot during drying). The Door lock sign (small red light) is on, and the display shows Cd during this time, then it beeps and the door unlocks by itself. If you need to remove your laundry earlier than this, you can press the START/PAUSE button to end the cycle (it still takes a couple of minutes). This is covered on p 21 - 22 of the owners manual. which can be downloaded from the LG site. http://www.lg.com/au/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=WD-1412RD&matchedModelCode=NOT_MATCHED&searchEngineModelCode=WD-1412RD&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile#
Your timer has gone bad and you need to replace the time. Best bet is to get a Technician out there but you can do it yoursel. It is behind the face plate where it counts down the time
