Question about Compaq Computers & Internet
My Compaq Presario with Windows Vista kept going to a blue screen after I tried doing a system restore (F8). I believe I gave my pc a virus when I downloaded iMesh (music downloader). I purchased 3 Compaq Recovery Disc from Best Buy when I purchased desktop in 2009. It is taking a long time to back up files. In the first 3 hours I was already on disk 4 or 5 and now I'm on disk 9. I'm using CD-R Audio 80 min disks. Am I doing something wrong?
It might be taking a long time because you have a lot of programs on your computer
try backing up to a dvd you can fit much more on dvd's
"blue screen" you might be running your computer over its limits by not having enough RAM putting to much strain on the CPU
add more ram or uninstall some unnecessary programs
you might be better of doing a full factory restore then back your computer up to dvd'sfrom there
Restart your computer now as soon as you hit the power button keep on holding Alt key & keep on tapping F10 key Alt+F10 it will open the recovery console select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction
(Note:this will erase all datas on the computer)
hope this helps you

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You can buy a copy of the CD by contacting HP from website, or calling the phone number in laptop documentation, that is the easy way.
The other way is using a generic windows CD corresponding to the licence printed on the sticker at the bottom of your computer. You will need to download and install drivers afterward.

You should be able to simply uninstall it in the control panel add and remove programs
Start > Control Panel > Add And Remove > locate the entry relating to the application you wish to install.

SOURCE: compaq presario system recovery
When the initial blue HP screen appears, press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears. The progress indicator that first appears does not indicate that a recovery is taking place. The progress indicator represents the time before the recovery process is started.
When the Recovery screen appears, click Next, and then click Yes to perform a normal, non-destructive recovery.
To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced, and then click Yes.
CAUTION: A destructive recovery will format the hard drive. This will delete all the information on the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP and the original software that came with the computer.
After the System Recovery is complete, the computer restarts and continues into Windows setup. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup.
NOTE: It may take a long time to complete Windows setup. This time varies and may take over an hour, depending on the amount of files that were stored in the user account folders (Like My Documents and the Desktop.
Note:Dont foregt to backup your important files/documents.
Hope this helps !

When booting up pc have you held the delete key or f2 key down to bring up the boot menu?Should be a option of cd dvd or hdd to boot first.
You want the cd dvd boot option on top or first.tThen reboot pc.
When asked hit any key to boot from cd, hit a key.Should start install.
If youve done this, clean the dvd or cd install disc with some windex and a paper towell, try again.
You can also do a system restore from control panel recovery option.
