Question about Computers & Internet
You won't be trying to restore info but transferring it, from how you explained it. I'm not sure about Vista but in XP it's called the file and transfer wizard. Start/ all programs/ accessories/ system tools/ files & transfer wizard. You will actually be physcially connecting the 2 pc's together with a ribbon to your printer ports. I pretty sure this is the right ports but in the wizard it will tell you.
Another way is to use a usb flash drive. At least 1 gig should be plenty of room. Copy from one and attach usb drive to the one your copying to.
You can also get an external hdd. This, to me is the most practical as you can use it to store your back ups.
All of these ways are solutions to your situation. But you must keep in mind that if you try to copy/cut a program from Vista to Xp (or other way around) you have to make sure it doesn't require the entire program to run correctly. Such as MicroSoft Office. You will have to have it on both pc's for your file transfer to work. Understand?
