2 solutions here. Firstly your cutlery is of poor quality - sorry!! Or try using more rinse aid, but I suspect the quality of the cutlery

My Electrolux ESI602 dishwasher has just started leaving rust spots on all my cutlery & a white residue on the inside of the dishwasher (like limescale). Any idea what the problem is ?

This is a something i see all the time always use the better dishwasher soap it cost a little more but in the long run it works better, also use less soap then what they say to use , so it will cost you less !

Any thing stainless which gets washed in my dishwasher comes out with rusty spots

Check the items are dishwasher proof, not just the items that are becoming tarnished but other items, main culprits ar cheese graters and garlic presses as these are not suitable for the d/w and will cause deposits on the other items.
There are 4 main reasons
1.Stainless items are left in a damp d/w with salt or acidic food residue.
2.Items are peft for long periods of time in a damp d/w after cycle has finished
3. undissolved powder (particularly if using quick wash) has come into contact with the cutlery.
4. different types of metal have come into contact with each other.
Hope this helps.

Hi, We have a small CDI454-80 Candy Dishwasher. It is just 18 months old and has only been used around twenty to thirty times. It has recently started to leave a film on all the dishes after the wash is...

The problem is hard water. Go to They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

Not coming out clean

I'm guessing from your post that your cutlery is the only thing in the dishwasher that is not getting clean, but rather with that nasty coating when you go to empty it. The reason for this phenomenon doesn't lie in a problem with the dishwasher, but rather a simple chemical and physical reaction between the dishwashing liquid (or powder or tablet), heat from the dishwasher's dryer, and the metal on that set of cutlery. The bleach from the dishwashing detergent will work very hard at getting your glasses, bowls, and everything glass and/or plastic clean and sparkling because it contains bleach in its ever-proprietary mixture of citrussy goodness. Unfortunately, metals and bleach, combined with heat are NOT a good combination! The best advice I can give you in this case (again, assuming that everything else in your dishwasher is looking fabulous and that your cutlery is the only thing that is not) is to wash your cutlery by hand with regular dish soap in the sink and do not put them in the dishwasher. Of course, it's easier to just stick all of that stuff in the dishwasher and not wash it by hand! It's why you bought a dishwasher in the first place, right? But if you want your cutlery (especially if it's GOOD cutlery) to look good and perform well, your best bet is to wash it the good ol' fashioned way...In the sink.

I hope this helps! :) Let me know if you need anything else that I can help with.

Rust spots on cutlerey

Rust spots on cutlery, but not on other dishes? It may be the blades are high carbon steel and not stainless. If so, then wash them by hand and dry with a towel.

S/s cutlery comes out with rust spots, why?

Only two possible reasons. In order of likelyhood:

1. Cheap Cutlery.
a) There are various types/grades of 'stainless' steel, some of which simply are not.
b) May be just lightly coated/plated steel

2. Excessive iron in your water, which would be showing up in your toilet tanks more than anywhere else. In which case, you need a softener with a chemical feed to address the iron and/or a dedicated iron filter.
