There should be four sets of numbers each seperated by a dot. These are the address of your router which will allow you to configure the router as you wish. Follow explanation below.

Broadband router manufacturers generally allow users to setup and configure the router settings through their web browsers. You just have to connect the browser to your computer and enter the default private IP address in the address bar of your browser.
The default IP address is factory set and is usually begins with 192.168. Some of the popular brands as given below use 192.168.1.254 as their default private IP Address.
  • some 3Com OfficeConnect routers
  • Netopia / Cayman Internet gateways
  • Billion ADSL routers
  • Linksys SRW2024 managed switches
  • Westell modems for Bellsouth DSL Internet service in the U.S.

192.168.1.254 Router Password

Alongwith the default Private IP Address, these manufacturers also set a default username and password. Users are allowed to change these default password settings. But in case they forget the changed admin and password details, they can use the hardware reset button to change all the settings to the default settings. In this process the password is also reset to the factory default value

Can't login with default settings

Tim - You may try resetting router to factory default if you are not able to login to your router. Follow the steps below.

1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.

If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and configure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it'sEthernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URLhttp://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
LinkSys Default Password
On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." While newer models, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."
Once you go past the login screen, you should be able to reconfigure the LinkSys router.
Here are some of LinkSys Router models along with its Default usernames:

Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Ethernet routers: Administrator
Linksys WRT54G, BEFW11S4: admin
Linksys Comcast routers: comcast
All other Linksys routers: {none}
Here are some of LinkSys Router models along with its Default passwords:
Linksys Comcast routers: 1234
Linksys BEFW11S4: {none}
All other Linksys routers: admin
For those [none] username/password entries listed above, no name or password is required. Just skip or press the Enter/Return key when prompted for those settings.

PURCHASED A SECOND LAPTOP TODAY AND THERE IS A SECURITY CODE(PASSWORD) REQUIRED TO ALLOW THIS COMPUTER ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM I HAVE ...HOW DO RETREIVE THIS OR SET UP NEW ..I HAVE A 108 MBPS WIRESLESS...

it sounds like you are trying to access a computer from another computer.

you need to:

1. configure a home network so both computers can see each other:
vista
xp
7
2. now you need to share folders
vista
xp
7

now if by ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM I HAVE you mean your network, you need to know what passcode or key code your router was set up with. if you didn't setup security for your password talk to the person that did and find out what the password is. if you can't reach this person you may need to reset your password to defaults which should automatically allow access to any computer your bring into your wireless network (not recommended without security) and then you should reconfigure security and make a note or remember the new password or keycode so you can configure the new and any other computer you want to allow to connect to your network.. this is how you can set to router back to defaults:

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password
or IP address, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 5 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

for more info on how to reconfigure your router and security for it here's your router's manual

good luck

XP version
>Try going start>run > type in CMD
>on the black screen type in ipconfig and hit enter.
>Look for the Default Gateway that would be the IP address that your DI-524 is using.

Windows Vista
>Click Start>All Programs > Accessories > click on command prompt
>type in ipconfig
>Look for IPV4 for the Default Gateway and that would be the IP address of your router.

If not allowing to access the login page, try pressing the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of your DI-524 but pressing the reset button will reset the setting of your wireles setting. Once your press the reset button type in 192.168.0.1 on the address bar and you should be having the login page. use Admin/admin for the username and leave the password blank and click ok...
