SOURCE: kenmore heavy duty clothes dryer will not heat

most problems with dryers not heating is the thermo fuse is blown. bout 20 buck to replace it looks like a small white flat football. but most likely if it went out that means the the high temp thermostat is messed up too

SOURCE: Kenmore 70 Series Dryer Model# 110.64742400

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.

SOURCE: kenmore electric dryer model 68702894 turns but no

The heater element may have failed - however, first check the Thermal limit fuse on the rear of the machine (silver disc held by 2 screws). Check for continuity.

SOURCE: what is cost of heating element of dryer

Prices vary by model number and parts resources. The element usually cost somewhere between $30 and $50. Here's a few websites you can use for reference to get an idea of how much a replacement element can cost:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average cost of these components varies, so shop and compare. The first three websites I listed also have helpful exploded view parts diagrams that can help you locate and properly identify the parts you need.

NOTE: In many cases, if you are experiencing a no heat problem, the heating element is NOT the problem. The heating element has protection devices that are designed to regulate the heat temperatures. If the dryer overheats the Thermal Cut-Out (TCO) typically will blow BEFORE the heating element. The replacement kit is much cheaper than purchasing a new heating element that may or may not be the problem.
If you have already diagnosed your problem, great. If you need to reassurance so you don't spend money you don't have to, the following links can give you some tips on how to troubleshoot a dryer:

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER so I can accurately determine how your dryer is configured. I hope you find this information helpful.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which is mounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If that’s fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
