Question about Washing Machines
My washing machine wouldn't spin nor pump out. Replaced brushes but still not spinning nor pumping out. How do I get access to the pump and hoses to check fro blockages or ultimately replace pump?

brushes usually available on ebay,
if the drum rotates but does not spin, this could likely be brushes or component problem (i.e triac or relay) on control PCB. - the latter was the problem i had and this was easily spotted as a blackened track on the Relay on the pcb.
Brushes should be ~£5. - check the existing brushes first before buying them.
fitting is easy, BUT a word of warning..which you probably know anyway..
before meddling though in the machine, locate the large capacitor and with electical screwdriver and discharge all the terminals to earth first! - YOU MUST DO THIS TO AVOID ELECTRIC SHOCK!! - even if the machine is unplugged.
remove motor & undo the back plate to release old brushes.
clean of motor of any excess carbon dust, - this can eventually cause arching if not cleaned away.
reassemble and fit all plugs back.
THEN TAKE 5 MINUTES TO CHECK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE BEFORE SWITCHING ON. -
Do not rush anything - take your time.

SOURCE: Random red stains appearing on
possible you have some red clothing in the gap between the tub and drum - there is nothing in the machine to cause red stains
to check, remove rear half of cabinet, remove heater (held by 1 10mm nut which just loosen and prize out heater) you can then see into the gap between tub and drum. shine in a torch and rotate drum by hand to see if you can spot anything. disconnect from mains first

I had the same problem. My husband checked the carbon brushes attached to the motor and ran the machine on spin. The brushes were sparking so he assumed they were worn and replaced them and hey presto machine works fine now. The brushes cost 23.99 and were just bought from a local shop but can be bought online cheaper. Hope this helps solve your problem. Essex
