It may be possible that your game console is just overheating, it may help if you bought a cooling fan, which can be purchased from most video gaming stores like Gamestop, or you could go to this website where there are several good quality cooling fans for your Xbox. Hope this help. Good Luck! :)

My xbox gets stuck in the middle of a game

Xbox 360 screen freezes are some of the common and frustrating problems that Xbox owners have had to deal with since the launch of this top notch gaming machine. More often than not, a lot of the searches occur on Google by people looking for a quick solution. But to keep from getting some unrelated information, its a good idea to understand why your Xbox 360 screen freezes in the first place. This will help you to focus your search and also make you able to spot all those tricksters with bogus promises that tend to be unreliable, and possibly hazardous to your Xbox 360 game console.

Gamers have to understand how to repair the screen freezing on their systems before it becomes a much bigger situation. One of the biggest culprits for this problem is heat. Heat build-up can easily ruin any machine with movable parts and the interior of the Xbox 360 is conducive to producing a lot of heat. If you look inside an Xbox 360 you should be able to notice just how crowded it is inside, due to its compact design. Heat producing components are placed side by side, and really just too close to each other. This is what prevents the adequate amount of air circulation causing it to overheat and then the screen freezes. There is not much we can do about how the internal components of the Xbox 360 are aligned, but we can do something to to make it cooler inside.

So Why Does My Xbox 360 Freeze Up?

This is actually a precautionary measure that was built into the Xbox 360 system. You could call it a "fail safe" response. The Xbox 360 is designed to shut down the entire system when the graphics chip gets intensely hot. This is actually a good thing because if the gamer continues to play in that overheated state, it can easily result in frying the entire system, and starting a fire; not to mention a possible injury or burns to the user.

Knowing what causes the Xbox 360 screen freezes is only half the battle. So now that you know what causes it, the next step will be the solution. You simply have to find a way to keep your Xbox 360 running cool at all times, and there are a number of ways to achieve this. You will have to buy an additional cooling unit because the one that comes with the Xbox is almost ineffective.

I am writing this article because I had a similar problem. I looked into ways to fix it myself for cheap and came across 3 of the popular ones. I tested them thoroughly for 3 days and decided that i had to make my results public so that anyone else can learn from my mistakes, and choose the right solution the first time, and not by trial and error.

During my tests I realized that the solution that worked for me was an Xbox fix guide written by Chris Jones and his team of Xbox repair professionals. It was a much cheaper solution which allowed me to fix xbox 360 screen freezes permanently on not just my Xbox but my friends as well.

My xbox works fine with some games and others it either won't play or freezes up while I'm playing it.

You need to clean your 360 if your under warranty send it off. If not then open it open and blow the dirt out of it. Then you might want to check your lens since I had the same problem. I did those step I just told you. When you clean lens put boiling hot water on cotton swap and rub it on lens and then let it dry for 10 min

It sounds like your xbox is overheating. This is a common issue with these consoles. Make sure it is in a well ventilated area. Somewhere that PLENTY of air can pass through. If you have it in a shelf and when you reach in you feel warmth, it is not good enough. Also, get a can of compressed air and blow out all the vents on your xbox. Aside from that there are external coolers you can add to your xbox, but they are ugly and loud.

My xbox 360 keeps freezing right when I'm in a game.

Hi there,

Xbox 360 consoles which freeze during games are usually down to the Xbox 360 overheating internally, which can potentially damage/break your system.

i suggest relocating your Xbox and the power adaptor into somewhere with a lot of open space, maybe on top of a table or something, and quite far away from the walls this way the xbox will have a lot of empty space where it can vent all the hot air and draw in fresh cool air to keep things frosty inside.

If this problem persists, i suggest lookin over on to see if there are any FAQ's/Troubleshooting subjects of interest !

Hope this helps !?

Xbox 360

I have friends who have tried quite of few tricks. The best thing I have found is the Antec notebook cooler. It plugs into one of the usb ports on the 360 and has fans that pull the hot air off the 360 and blow it out the sides. I found my at Staples they are around $30 but I got mine on sale for around $15. The 360 needs to lay on its side to use this but it works great and keeps it cool.
