Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sounds video and game controllers ther might be a yellow question / exclamation ? ! mark or a red X right click to update driver

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it or select audio from the microphone drop down list

make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or select the voice tab and make sure that you have the right media selected also select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it

if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
hope this helps

If the electricity sound was loud and static sounding then you had a short with arcing which is not good and you blew a board or the socket that the bulb went into. Check that there is current at the bulb fitting.

That little shock has between 500 to 21,000 volts. Sensitive transistors and microchips definitely get damaged permanently from static electricity.

I touched my speaker and felt a static electric shock, the unit powered down, although it powers up, I hear the cooling fan but no sound or front power LED now. what happened and how do I fix it?

Did you have this speaker AND the device that drives it connected to the same power source? If run by a mixer you MUST run a power extension from the same place your powered speakers are powered to the mixer. Ground bounce due to wiring in a building can destroy input circuits due to ground faults and static discharges. ALWAYS use balanced lines either XLR or TRS cables to interconnect the audio.

Also verify your power receptacle is properly wired. Carry one of those plugs with the indicators showing receptacle is wired correctly. Don't plug anything in until you verify it. Some venues are noted as having bad electical service.

Let your speaker sit for a minute and repower it... sometimes they have a lockout that takes time to reset.

Static electricity fried the button panel

static electricity can damage the chips on the boards. it all depends were the static voltage went to, if it was just to the buttons controller board or to the main av board. you could need new button board or you could need to replace the main board and the button board its hard to say with static shock.

There is static coming out of my speakers on my stereo. I I checke to make sureall the wires are connected properly and the power is plugged in securely. There is static with the sound on all...

Don't worry, it's more possible that you have the static electricity and through your stereo this electricity goes to the ground. Try touching another metalic surfasce (refrigirator, oven etc), try to change your shoes (especialy if your stereo is on a carpet floor and you walk on it) Sometimes when we are very nervous the static electricity on our body is higher. So keep calm.

Unfortunately I don't think so. TV"s can develop a huge static charge & dusting would increase it... that Discharge was a huge shot of Static Electricity, most likely fried ya output devices...

My yamaha reciever has a power problem in that when i switch it on, it only goes on for a few seconds and thereafter goes off.

As long as you're sure the power cord is firmly plugged in, it sounds like the protection circuitry of the unit has likely been activated. This happens when there is a short circuit in one of the connections. Check your speaker wiring connections and make sure all of them are firmly and carefully grounded (i.e. the copper of the wire touches nothing but the proper terminal, and that the wires do not touch each other). Check the connections on the speakers as well. If protection circuitry is the result of a shock or power surge (lightning, strong static, etc.), you can reset it. Turn it to standby mode, unplug it, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

I touch the on/off button on the Prima TV to turn

I am sure you had some strong static electricity. The static spark arced to inside of the TV in to the circuit board. Many of the low cost TV sets have poor static electricity protection.
In most cases there is damaged caused by static shock to electronic devices.
Just for curiosity, you can try unplugging the set from the AC mins and plugging it back in to do a simple reset, in case there is no damage and some logic device became hung up.
Last year I picked up my mobile phone and got a static shock from it. I had to get a new phone. This phone never worked again!

PS 2 shocked me when I was turning it off. Now it won't turn on.

When you experienced that shock you may have inadvertenly sent an electro static discharge to the circuitry inside the ps2 which would cause it to stop working.
If it is fairly new return it to the store you purchased it let them know whar happened and usually they will exchange the item for you.
