Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 Digital Camera with 14-45mm lens
I own a DMC GF1. Last year I bought a Pixel RW 221 remote shutter release to use with my camera. I don't understand why the shutter will not activate using this remote system. I have fresh batteries in both the transmitter and the receiver. The cord is fully inserted into both the receiver and the camera. When I depress the shutter release button on the transmitter, at the half-way point, the receiver's led lights green. However, when the button is fully depressed, the receiver's led goes from green to red...but nothing happens. The camera does not take a picture. Can anybody help me figure out what's wrong, or what I might be doing wrong? This remote just doesn't seem to be working with my camera.

hello, these units have a very fine zoom switch and can get damaged by a drop or fine sand. the zoom switch sits under the actual button. if you turn the camera on in camera mode and the display is showing the zoom on screen display then you know it is the switch.

Hi...I found your post while searching for the answer to the same question! I thought I'd let you know what the tech support person told me, which worked immediately. There is a button on your remote that says MUSIC with SRD above it. Push this button, while surround sound speakers are on, and they should work instantly. They are quieter than the regular speakers, so you might have to turn up the sound. Hope this works for you (if you are still having troubles, that is). The manual was no help with this subject. So frustrating!

SOURCE: NEED HELP
I also have the same problem and after almost buying a replacement I thought I would try one time to get it to go.
What I did was start the cam without a tape in it, let it bring up the little red icon indicating no tape inserted, (it hadn't started flashing "PLEASE RE-OPERATE AFTER PUSHING RESET BUTTON" at this stage) then I inserted my tape. Hey presto, it works although for how long I don't know. I'll immediately start burn my tapes to disc while the going is good.
Hope this helps someone
