Question about Gateway NV5432u Pentium DualCore T4300 21GHz 4GB 250GB DVD RW DL 156'' LEDBacklit Windows 7 Home (LXWDG02012) PC Notebook
I had previously disabled my touchpad when the mouse was installed. Changed to a logitech wireless mouse (M185) and can't find an option to disable the touchpad. Searched control panel, tried uninstalling alps pointing device driver. nothing works. Very inconvenient. If I touch the pad while typing I end up wherever the touch takes me instead of where I want to be.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had the same problem, but I fixed it.
Click start, type "msconfig," go to the "startup" tab, make sure that "synaptics pointing device driver" is checked. After you check the box, restart.
