As a general rule the lemon law does not effect acs. because the equipment colud be at fault, or the installer couild be at fault , or the installation or application coiuld be at fault, or the power company could be at fault or the ductwork inadquete or undersized? so there are so many variables that a new ac may not fix your problem so they rarely ever provide new.now lets discuss your insatller or dealer. why are they saying the rev valve is bad? let me say covs Changeover valves usually do one of three things. they stick in cool and wont shift so youare stuck in cool or sruck in heat. when energized you hear no kawhoosh sound and compressor doesnt change pitch. then they are stuck in heat or cool. what they do sometimes is stick halfway and that gives a coolish suction and a coolish line to the house but not real cold. the hot gas line is only warm and the discharge line is onlty warm. this means its stuck halfway. some times you can disconnect the fan run the pressures way up and gently tap the valve and it will free up. but it nay stick agagin. the valves in the compressor may also be weak and be misdiagnosed as as half stuck covalve.. you could close off the liquid line and see if the compressor cah pump down to zero . if it can't then compressor maY BE BAD .when the unit was installed did they put in a liquidline drier to collect impurities and protect the valve? its pretty unusual to see a valve fail and if to much heat is applied on replacement then new valve can be damaged. good luck , oh you have the option of requesting a different dealer if it is brand name like trane or american std with a parts and labor warranty. most dealers can honor the other guys warranty and get paid by the factory if you have lost confidence in your guy. i am sure you know right away if you got a budget jack leg job or a pro . good luck.

We have a bryant ac installed new in June 2007 - recently, it was not working/ cooling properly. When the service tech came out, he said the coolant leaked out and he had to recharge it w/ a dyed coolant and will come back and check it with a black light. Our cocnern is that we asked how would it leak and he said it could be caused by corrosion from hairspray or cleaning supplie sor dryer sheet that get in the air and into the coil???? Does this sound crazy? We just wanted to know if it was a possible defect that could be covered under warranty? It ia a bryant model 113A - any info about any issues or concerns??

My High dollar ASZC16 Amana has broke twice with the 1st time breaking at less than a year old and it made it another 10 months and has broken in the same place again. It is breaking the high pressure line at the top of the compressor. Amana has a life time warrenty on the compressor and is supposed to replace the outdoor unit if the compressor fails but the dealer keeps patching it. The line is breaking right where it is soldered into the compressor. have been left without air for a total of 5 days and and lost 2 days of work having to take off so they could have access to the unit. It has been repaired 2 other times for thermostat issue\'s. Amana is junk buy something else

Hear pump keeps running constantly, why won't it shut off?

if some units detect ice they will leave the fan running in an attempt to defrost the coils. If it's the outside coils and it's warm enough inside, try running the air conditioning for a few minutes, that will put hot coolant through the coils and could melt the ice for you.

How a Central Air Conditioning System Works
amn_howac.jpg

Facts:
  • The typical central air conditioning system is a split system, with an outdoor air conditioning, or "compressor bearing unit" and an indoor coil, which is usually installed on top of the furnace in the home.
  • Using electricity as its power source, the compressor pumps refrigerant through the system to gather heat and moisture from indoors and remove it from the home.
  • Heat and moisture are removed from the home when warm air from inside the home is blown over the cooled indoor coil. The heat in the air transfers to the coil, thereby "cooling" the air.
  • The heat that has transferred to the coil is then "pumped" to the exterior of the home, while the cooled air is pumped back inside, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.
  • Central air conditioning can also be provided through a package unit or a heat pump.

Benefits:
  • Indoor comfort during warm weather - Central air conditioning helps keep your home cool and reduces humidity levels.
  • Cleaner air - As your central air conditioning system draws air out of various rooms in the house through return air ducts, the air is pulled through an air filter, which removes airborne particles such as dust and lint. Sophisticated filters may remove microscopic pollutants, as well. The filtered air is then routed to air supply ductwork that carries it back to rooms.
  • Quieter operation - Because the compressor bearing unit is located outside the home, the indoor noise level from its operation is much lower than that of a free-standing air conditioning unit.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The undersized (to light a gauge) wiring would cause that problem. In most cases it should be at least a 4 or 6 gauge wire. AC Units pull a lot of power in their start up or peak cycle. Hence, the need for the proper wiring.

Where is the reset button on an Amana ASZ14 unit?

I don't think the Amana ASZ14 Heat Pump has a reset switch, but you can still reset it by resetting the power (when it's not running... turn your thermostat OFF first).

To reset the power, locate your circuit breaker box. There should be a double-breaker for the Heat Pump and another double-breaker for the Air Handler. Turn them both off for at least 2-3 minutes. Then flip them back on and turn your thermostat back ON.

You're thermostat may also have a RESET button that you can push. I have to reset mine every time I change the batteries in it.

Are you the original buyer? If so I would have contacted nissan because most states have what is referred to as a lemon law. According to Statelawyers.com, Lemon Law refers to the statement from the government that was created to protect consumers from defects in automobile. An automobile that has manufacturing defect(s) or if it requires repeated repairs after purchase and if the automobile is under warranty period, such a vehicle is termed as a lemon.

A law was placed for the benefit of consumers to prevent them from a lemon vehicle. In a nut shell if any vehicle such as a car is under warranty period and is suffering from various defects that prevent a consumer to use the vehicle effectively then Lemon law act or the Magnuson Moss Act comes into force.

Lemon law can be enforced on any sort of vehicle like a car, truck, van, SUV, motorcycle, boat or computer, etc. If any of these consumer durables is found to be defective then the consumer is entitled for either money back, replacement or a cash settlement. The law can be consulted with a Lemon law attorney as various states have different lemon laws. Some states have a lemon law for only the automobiles but some also include other consumer durables like computers, etc.

A dealer or manufacturer should have made number of attempts to repair the vehicle before being declared as lemon. Usually three or more attempts in row over a short period of time are required for any vehicle to be termed as lemon. Lemon law is also applicable to vehicles which have been resold but are still under warranty and meet the mileage and time criteria. More often it is very difficult to persuade a manufacturer to accept a lemon vehicle. In such cases a lemon suit is often called for.

To ensure whether a vehicle is a lemon or not one should observe certain conditions of the vehicle before pursuing a lemon law suit. A vehicle should exhibit some serious defect or some abnormal condition. Such a condition should be covered by manufacturer's warranty. Number of attempts for repair should also be taken into account before preparing a lemon law suit. A written notice should have also been issued to the manufacturer prior to a lemon law suit.

A vehicle that has been bought back by the manufacturer from the customer is known as a Lemon Buy Back. Such lemon buy backs are often sold in auctions as used cars by the manufacturers.

The Lemon law enforced for protecting consumers from the lemon vehicles is Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. This lemon law states that any advertised guarantee should explicitly state relevant information about a warranty. This law ensures that any warranty for goods above $15 should be clearly expressed on the goods and should be clear and easy to understand. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty act enables a consumer to bring suit to any manufacturer, supplier, warrantor, or service contractor for any defective piece of good or services.

A lemon vehicle explicitly loses market value due to its manufacturing defect. Moreover, manufacturing defects may lead to several life threatening circumstances. It also substantially impedes a person's ability to control or operate a motor vehicle for ordinary use or intended purposes. Any manufacturing defect can also create a substantial risk of fire or explosion. All these risk elements call for enforcement of Lemon law in the states of United States. This law helps consumer from all such threats and hazardous circumstances.
