Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

What is the proper procedure for opening the dvd drawer on a gateway ne 522 laptop

Locking device or software installed First, verify no locking software is being loaded that prevents the tray from opening. If you are unable to determine this, reboot the computer and as it is booting up, eject the tray. If the tray is able to eject as it is booting, but stops working after loading Windows or your operating system something is being loaded that is preventing the drive tray from opening. This is most commonly software such as a CD burner program that has taken control of the drive.
Bad eject button If you are running Microsoft Windows open My computer, right-click on the disc drive icon and choose the option to eject. If this ejects your CD-ROM drive tray, the button on the disc drive is defective and it is recommended that the drive be replaced.

Lenovo Z570 Disc tray is stuck -outside of laptop

Open the try slightly, shut down the machine, tilt the machine to the side of the DVD/CD drive a gently shake to loosen the tray or whatever is causing the problem, Is the disk off the spindle? Is the dvd/cd broken? Can you insert something to clear whatever is obstructing it? Have you tried to eject using the software, Go to computer, right click DVD/CD rom drive, click on eject? Has there been any damage to that area, bent..etc? You may have to force it open or remove the drive and try to open it.

How to eject dvd disk samsung laptop no eject button?

There are two ways toopen the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD driveis faulty and needs replacing.

How do I eject a disk from my dell model 1737 studio lap top(window vista) . It made noise are clicking sound when it went in.

Hello Reg,

The CD/DVD rom is tray type then use a pin to eject the tray. There is small hole in front of tray plate.

Insert the pin in the small home and press smoothly and the tray will eject .

If the CD/DVD rom is different type then use long steel V shape clip to pull the disc.

I inadvertently left a copyright CD in E drive. Now cannot open the CD tray to take out the CD. Dell computer. What to do?

In case the eject button on the tray don't help try to open "my computer", right click on the proper cd/dvd tray and choose eject. In case that didn't help you have to locate a small hole on the tray near the eject button. Use a paper clip and through this hole push the internal cogwheel to rotate and open the tray. Take care that it's not always due to the disk that the tray can't open; maybe it's a cd rom's mechanical problem and will lock again a cd or dvd disk.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

Intel iMac: disk does not eject, does not mount, makes no noise

Now you mentioned that you used the drutil tray open command- if that is correct, then for your Mac Mini, that will not work, because that command is for drives with trays only.

In your case, you have slot drive in your Mac Mini so try the command line that I have provided below. It is just a slight modification from what you stated you tried.

-EJECTING DISC USING TERMINAL-

From your Desktop:

•Click anywhere on a blank space on your desktop. Now you should see Finder listed near the Apple menu icon.

• From the Finder menu, click on Go, then Utilities from the
drop-down menu. This will take you to your Utilities folder.

• Locate and open the Terminal application.

• At prompt, type: drutil eject and press the Return key on your keyboard

(NOTE: If you have a CD/DVD drive with a tray, type: drutil tray open press the Return key on your keyboard).

If that procedure with Terminal does not work, there are two applications that you can try:
Disk Utility- You open the application, select the affected disc or the optical drive in the left sidebar window. Then select eject from the top of the Disk Utility menu. See if that work.

iTunes- Simply open the application, and select the eject icon at the bottom of the window.

Last but not least, I did notice you did not mention that you try this procedure:

Reboot your Mac Mini.
As the Mac Mini boots up, hold down all mouse buttons and keep holding them down until (hopefully) the cd ejects.
I am not sure if you have done all of these processes for ejecting your disc, but again these steps were not mentioned in your initial inquiry.

Let me know if these additional steps have helped or if they are in fact redundant.

My Acer Extensa 5620Z DVD-ROM Driver wont open or operate

#1
first go to your system tray and click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon
** if it's not there you can skip this step
click on the icon and stop your dvd/cd drive

#2
There is an eject button on the side of your drive. not the disk eject button. this button will eject your drive from the computer. it should be on the right side of the drive. push this button and remove your drive.

#3
Inspect the drive for signs of damage.
Give it a few blows of air to knock any dust off it

#4
Reinsert the drive into your computer
After you do that Windows should recognize there is a drive there and little bubbles should pop up from your system tray. give it a minute to finish.

#5
Insert a disk and check to see if it is working properly

IF windows didnt recognize it and/or it still has no power, you most likely will have to replace your drive. but let me know what happened after you do this
