This is normal for baseboard heaters, although the newer heaters are not as bad as the older ones. sometimes they will also make a popping noise, this too is normal as the elements expand when heated.

ok, if the humming noise is excessively loud, then please check of have someone else check the connections to make sure you don't have a loose connection. this could be potentially dangerous as the connection will heat up if not properly joined.

Heater makes noise humming sound is this normal i replaced 3 8ftrs they make the humming sound the smaller 6ftrs and3 ftrs dont make a sound ?????

This is perfectly normal. This is caused by the heating elements sagging over time. In my years of doing this I have seen this many times before. If yours is new then it may just be a mount loose. Turn it off and check the mounts on in inside of the unit. UNPLUG IT FIRST!!!

I have two 8ft baseboards and they make a slight humming noise. Is this normal?

the humming noise is normal. parts of the element and fins are vibrating in its holder(s) - the electric when flowing through the coil sets up a small magnetic field.

The baseboard is very noisy? Humming sound

there are clips that hold the actual element inside the enclosure.check to see they are loose or broken. a small amount of humming noise is normal while the heater is being energized expansion/ contraction of alumimun fins is normal.

the heat may be affecting the unit's paint. normally the oil used in manufacturing burns off the first time the unit is used. maybe the proximity of the element to the case is too close.

Basboard heater installation

if the heater is 120 volt or 240 volt its really pretty easy. at either end is a cover. remove the cover and you'll see a wirenut or maybe just two wires. one side has an integral thermostat. connect your supply to the two wires on the thermostat. connect the other end in your breaker box with the appropriate sized circuit breaker. wire size feeding it will depend on its current draw. how many watts is the heater? 1500 watts will draw 6.25 amps at 240 volts so you can use 14 ga wire. 2000 watts will draw 8.3 at 240 volts - so 14 ga is still ok. 2500 watts at 240 draws 10.41 amps. 3000 watts draws 12.5 amps at this stage I'd use 12 gauge on a 20 amp breaker.
