Question about Danby DWC310BL Wine Cooler

Open Question

The wine cooler sounds like a dying cow - we suspect it is the compressor but have been told that it is not worth fixing if it is. Does this mean that it costs more than it is worth to fix it? Is there another problem it could be?

If you are getting the E4 error code, try replacing the defrost sensor. The part might take forever to get to you, but we replaced the sensor on the wine cooler and it's working.

SOURCE: wine cooler makes noise and runs hot

The price looks fine for my area its about a 3 hour job done properly. you should consider a new wine cooler and cut your losses because if their only replacing the compressor they should be replacing the cap tube and liquid drier if the cap tube is not replaced could be a waste of money

that's always a possibility but not always the case. The thermostat may not be cycling correctly or set wrong. The condenser could be dirty or if there is a fan, it may not be running. Freeze ups can also cause an "Out of temp." condition. Check it out.

My Haier Wine Cooler HVFM30A the compressor or motor over heated and stop working. Can I replace it?

A new compressor for that unit from Sears parts direct costs $206.
The unit itself is worth around $233 and is no longer in production.

After you pay someone to replace the compressor you'll have spent way more than it is worth.
Your best bet is to get a new wine cooler.

Unit will not stay cool. Is it a thermostat, compressor?

Small refrigeration units like this one like to fail to cool by developing a small leak and slowly
leaking refrigerant.
THERMOSTAT FAILURE CHECK:
A technician will check the thermostat using using a DMM (digital multimeter). But you can suspect the thermostat if you set the thermostat high and the compressor motor does not run,
then set thermostat low, and the compressor motor also doesn't run - in other words, the thermostat is failing to start the refrigerator's refrigeration system no matter what its setting - an obvious failure of the thermostat.
COMPRESSOR FAILURE CHECK:
If the compressor is dying, you would hear the compressor running almost constantly, but not
sounding quite right (uneven noise, clunking, tapping).
REFRIGERANT LEAK CHECK:
If you unit is low on refrigerant (due to a leak), the compressor motor will be running
almost constantly, but it will sound Ok.

Cooling unit is running, but interior is not cool.

How long have you had this unit and did it quit suddenly or did it fail intermittently. Do you mean running where you can hear the fan and the light comes on when you open the wine cellar door? If so, I would suspect the starting relay failure on your cooler which should be very easy to replace. There should be a wiring diragram on the back of your unit somewhere and could be labeled (RT). Your compressor would be the last thing I would suspect.
