I have just bought a PS3 and wanted a HDMI connection so i bought a cable. My TV (Bush make) although only 18 months old does not have a HDMI port so i had to buy an adaptor for the DVI socket. Great...so far. I connected the HDMI cable, the PS3 displayed a message saying it detected a HDMI device and did i want to use it so i said yes.
On starting up though i have a picture but no sound, i played around with the AV cables supplied and the sockets on the back of the telly but to no avail. So i decided to go back to the scart connection. Only now i get sound but no picture!
So i have...picture but no sound through the DVI/HDMI cable...or sound but no picture on the scart connection. I'm really confused and my husband is going to explode if i can't fix it. I looked at buying an 'optical digital cable', but there is no where to put the end on my TV.
I just want to get my scart picture and sound back. Please can you help??
With your PS3 on standby (red light) hold the on/off button down until it goes green and then back to red. This restores your PS3 to "factory settings", i.e. it is waiting for you to tell it how you want it to connect to your TV. Now disconnect any HDMI cables you may be trying to use and connect your PS3 to your TV via a scart connection. Now switch your PS3 on and turn to your AV channel and you should have both sound and pictures.

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.
Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.
If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.
If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.
Ur tv some how causes HDMI 1 and 2 port hubs link together so changes back and fourth 1 or 2 HDMI hubs will not a difference.Ur tv have 4 HDMI hub ports wright?Tries not to used HDMI hub ports as like HDMI ports like 1,2,3,4 to as in sequences.Tries used like 1 and 4,2 and 4,3 and 1 as skips sequences might work for ur tv.Tries to hook up the PS3 system as the old format hook up same hook as PS2 format like used the PS station old RCA AV cable hook up.Then that should not causes conflict at all because now tv have two difference kind of format hook up.

You will need 2 hdmi cables the ps3 a tv with an hdmi port and a audio receiver with hdmi in and out. 1:>First connect the ps3 to the tv with the A/V cables. 2:>Turn the system on and the tv on, get to the ps3 dashboard. 3:>Under the settings tab select (display settings) 4:>Select (video output settings) 5:>Do not disconnect the A/V. 6:>Connect the hdmi cable to the ps3 and tv. 7:>Then select hdmi and select change, this gives you 30 seconds to switch the tv over to the hdmi channel. Once done and you get a signal select (yes). 8:>Disconnect the A/V cable. 9:>Select what inut your tv will support 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. You can select more than one and even all if it is supported by your tv. 10:>Then select hdmi for your audio output, but since your ps3 is connected to the tv only select linear PCM 2channel. Check for sound on the tv's speakers. If check is good then proceed. 11:>Power down the tv and ps3, disconnect the hdmi cable. 12:>Connect the hdmi cable from the ps3 to the input of the audio receiver and the hdmi from the tv to the output on the receiver. 13:>Turn the ps3 on, the receiver on and the tv on. Make sure the receiver is on the right channel. If it is you will see the ps3 come on the tv, and have sound on the main speakers of the receiver and tv. 14:>At this step you should be able to see and here the ps3's dashboard. Now to setup surround. 15:>Scroll to the settings tab and select (sound settings). 16:>Select (audio output settings) 17:>Select (hdmi) 18:>Select (automatic) this will select the basic surround settings that all receivers have. 19:>Hit enter and exit. 20:>From here test the surround with a game or movie. If for any reason you should need to restart the process, simply plug the A/V cable back in and do a video reset.

shut back off, release finger. 3:>Then
turn back on normally. Good luck.
I have the PS3 and this TV and it works....Try this.
1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect HDMI from TV to PS3
3. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV for the PS3(important)
4.Turn OFF PS3 if it is ON.
5. hold [I/O] Power button on PS3
6. Wait about 5 second and you should get the "HDMI Detected" or some similar message.
7. Configure the HDMI output for the PS3
Also, If you set the PS3 to "auto" for hdmi, it may set the resolution to 1080i. You may want to deselect everthing but the 1080P.
you need a HDMI connection for your stereo. HDMI is an all in one cable so if you don't get your sound in/out you need to hook up to just the RCA's, if you get a reciver that has an HDMI input you will solve this. then you go HDMI to Reciver then HDMI to TV
Connect the PS3 using another cable then go into the menu setup and make sure that the resolution is set to a level your tv can handle. Start with 480p and go up from there. I would imagine BUSH (never heard of it) isn't the highest quality tv so you have to make sure it can handle the signal. Start with that.
First put the orginal ps3 cable onto ps3 then to tv.set tv to see ps3 and go to ps3 setup, now down to display settings, set to hdmi, picture will go off so now switch tv to hdmi input .Next go to sound settings for ps3 and set to hdmi if your amp can work this way ,if not set sound out to optical.
hope this helps.
