I have a Hot Point HSM25GFTSA item#111026 the freezer door won't shut. I came home and everything thawed out so I threw everything out and jammed the door shut with a chair wedged. Is there some kind of magnetic closure that is messed up or what?

Re: Freezer Door wont shut
Two things i would check. first would be an obstruction in the freezer compartment. ice bin perhaps. second would be the black plastic door cams that are to help close the door. Each door has two and they are at the bottom. one on the actual hinge and one on the bottom of the door itself.

Before you go any further it is important that you check for freezer temps. Yes, you have frozen items but remember that water freezes at 32 degrees and many items will get hard at that temp. And also remember that the lower the temp the longer frozen items will keep.
But ice cream needs proper freezer temps close to zero degrees. Use a digital thermostat and check for your freezer temp - bet it it is no where near zero. I had the same problem and attributed it to the fact that I was not using a name brand ice cream!!!! I was wrong ! LOL.
Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect thewater line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection.I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the throughto the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connecteverything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water InletValve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge.Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.
Have u checked the thermostat setting? Set it as u usually do and if indeed the door was left open, then try shutting it down for(unplug) 10-12 Hrs and see if behaves normally after wards(set the thermostat too).
If not then have the thermostat replaced.....sodeep
