Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV41 Camcorder
Hi! I have a Sony handycam CCD-TRV43 8mm that all of the sudden started behaving very weird. When I want to record or playback it stops after a few seconds, beeps several times and there is a yellow sign in the centre, looks like an eject sign, that keeps flashing as well as a C:31:23 code flashing in the upper right-hand corner. I looked up the error code in the manual and it says it needs to be taken in for service by an authorized dealer, but the camera is old (at least for the current technology)and I am actually looking at upgrading to a digital camera instead. However, I would not mind having this camera around for the kids to make their own movies with. Needless to say, I don't want to spend a ton of money on fixing it and wonder if there is anything I can do myself? Grateful for any reply, Anna. PS. I should also mention that I have already left it to "dry" out and tried a brand new tape.
Most likely cause would be rubber belt driving the take-up reel is broken or stretched (stretching would have been a slowly worsening problem) Not easy to get at , find a shop with old school tech and price shouldn't be too bad .
