SOURCE: i have around $100 to spend on a used digital

You will likely have to double that budget to get anything decent... but look for a Yamaha in the PSR series (61 keys minimum). To get a full 88 key, you might have to be up in the $400 range for anything really decent.

If everything else works fine then it likely just needs the display replaced.

My sustain pedal works in reverse

You bought the wrong model - e.g. Yamaha models work reverse.
Return for Exchange
Or try opening up and re-solder the cable to the micro switch if possible

Sustain pedal does not work

Yamaha FC4 and FC5 sustain pedals are normally closed, sorry Fred. Roland is opposite. I suspect the P120 just needs to be reinitialized. Hold down top white key (C) while turning on power. Wait 3 seconds and then release white key. Should now be reset to factory spec. Always plug the pedal in before you turn it on. If it still doesn't work check it with a meter.

I have a Casio CDP 200R. I recently purchased a FC4 foot pedal but it works in the reverse way. I tried switching the piano off and then plugging it in and it still does not work. Can you please let me...

You should try having the pedal connected when you turn unit on. Some pedals can be rewired to act opposite... However I believe this pedal should work with the Casio. You can open the pedal and see if you can move one wire so it works opposite. Also verify that the jack is set to the "SUS" setting per your user manual... around page E14

I have a mo8 and the sustain pedal is reversed. What can I do to make sustain when pedal is depressed?

This is a common problem when one uses a Roland sustain pedal with other brands such as Yamaha. Frankly, I would just get a Yamaha pedal to use with the unit. Some Yamaha synths have a setting for pedal "polarity" but I could not find it in the mass information of the MO8 manual. The Yamaha Tyros synths have a setting that is easily found in the utility settings... I don't see that in this manual. SOMETIMES you can open a pedal and find that you can with a soldering iron transfer a wire to reverse the pedal... but not all pedals have both contacts available.

Fc4 sustain pedal is in "sustain" mode at all times -- it won't release the sustained notes. I tried plugging the pedal in (to a roland ep-9) before powering up and had the same problem.

Sorry, but the Yamaha pedal has the opposite sense (it is a normally open contact) than what is REQUIRED by Roland equipment. Roland requires a Normally Closed contact. Unfortunately, one is confused because the Roland jack for the sustain shorts itself to no sustain when you unplug a pedal. SOMETIMES one can open a pedal and with soldering iron change a wire to reverse the pedal sense IF the particular pedal has both contacts available.

I have the same problem, But I have been using the same pedal since new. Infact it came with this pedal. Then suddenly it started doing this. Could I have changed soem setting by accident?

I need a volume pedal for a SX KN6000 Technics keyboard

As there's no polarity switch on the FC7 the quick and dirty way is to cut the cable and swap the wires around.
