1. could be dim if laptop or lcd (backlight out) replace
2. video card may be out in cpu if desktop or try turning desktop on immediatly & contiously press f 8 until safe mode etc comes up choose enable vga mode see if that works if not video card maybe bad replace with appropriate card need more info to help you more.
