Virgin is a cable provider. They give you a cable modem in to which you can plug the router using a network (RJ45) connection. This router is an ADSL modem router.

In other words, it could NOT have been used on Virgin, but it should work with Talk Talk as it is a standard ADSL connection.

Reset the Router back to factory default and enter your details.

I have been given NetGear wireless by a family friend, no instructions. I have plugged everything in and it doesn't seem to work. Can you help?

You need to access the routers webpage and set it up for your ISP, with you own user name and passwords etc, these can be given to you by your isp, the router web page is http://192.168.1.1 by default with user and password both admin by default. Here is a webpage that will help http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/112

Cant get netgear to work

Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer and in the address bar type 192.168.0.1 and hit the Enter or Return key. This should take you to the routers internal User's Interface where you will be able to enter your ISP information.

Wireless connection

Did you change your wireless SSID and channel? Better to enable encryption too. If this problem never happens when you're connecting to other wireless networks you might as well update or reload the firmware/software of your router.

Can't get internet access through NetGear DG834G Router

You have to configure your router...

If your ISP provided you with IP Address, enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway IP address anbd DNS IP address for your broadband router.

If you connect to the Internet using an xDSL Modem and your ISP has provided you with a Password and a Service Name, then your ISP uses PPPoE to establish a connection. You must enter the required information.

Hope this could help..
