Question about Saws
Which saw? What materials are the Trunion assembly made of? I have a 50s era Toro that had been left in the weather, but with some patience, a fair amount of synthetic motor oil and only judicious amounts of heat from a heat lamp, plus wire brushing the acme threads relentlessly I finally got it freed up. Yours is not likely to need so much work, but similar methods should free it up
If WD40 were used- skip the oil and go straight to the carb cleaner first- You need to cut through the goo. Convair who developed it abandoned it promptly upon finding the gluing tendency.
once freed up- oil it with synthetic 20 weight motor oil. Never spray WD 40 on anything you want to move. If you spray some into a test tube or a jar you can see the waxes congeal in it.
